Are we developing different steampunk subcultures?
A few weeks ago I noticed something that has been bothering me ever since. I don’t know if I’m the only one who has noticed this, or that it is complete bullshit and I’m just making it up, but I have the feeling that there are different subcultures starting to develop within steampunk.
Yes, you heard that right, subcultures within a subculture. I can easily imagine some of you thinking it to be a strange thing, but let’s just take a look at the gothics. I think that, by now, everyone knows there is a big variety between gothics, and for everyone whose still a bit sceptic about that, here’s a site explaining the different gothic types (and steampunk goths are already on the list!!!)
Now back to steampunk. I haven’t really thought about the different subcultures you could divide steampunk into because I first wanted to have some opinions of other people, but I can easily name a couple different subcultures I think you can divide steampunk into, and what their differences are. So what do you guys think? Do you agree with me or do you think it’s complete bullshit? And if you agree with me, what are some different subcultures you think you can divide steampunk into and what would you name them? Please message me and send me your opinion. I would love to hear what you think of this and, hopefully, find out that I’m not a complete idiot.
