Speaking of Blackthornkit (now officially Blackthornshock), while he DID move on from his parents while he was still a kit and thought of Flood and his adoptive siblings as his true family, I like to think that he didn't completely and entirely move on until he was apprentice/old-kit age and a younger litter was added to the family and Blackthorn went into Big Brother mode.
He still thought of his old family occasionally, sometimes for days or seconds, but when the new litter showed up, Blackthorn was utterly devoted to them.
It wasn't unhealthily so, and he still payed lots of time to his other adoptive family members and to himself, but it kinda just....fit the last piece in a puzzle. There was no longer the sense of something missing.
He was whole, and there was no need to think of anything else

Maybe blackthornkit mother could be called Eclectusfearher, due to the mother's Eclectus parrots tendency to get rid of any sons if times are hard?

The thing with the parents is that all we know about them are these points:
They got unexpectedly pregnant
Their kits (at least 2 daughters and 1 son) are unblessed (therefore really unhealthy)
They decided not to name their weakest kit because they didn't think he would make it
They decided to leave the weakest kit behind, lying that they would be back so that he wouldn't follow
But we don't know the reasons for their motives. Did they truly think that they had to leave the weakest behind in order to give their healthier kits a chance?
Or were they just heartless? And if they were just heartless, why not kill their son if he's bringing them down? Maybe they didn't care enough to even do that? Maybe they couldn't bring themselves to do it? Did they not name him in the first place because it wasn't worth their time, or because they thought his death would be inevitable and didn't want the pain to be worse by giving him a name?
And what do they tell their daughters? That he's dead?
Sorry to add all of this to an ask that was just suggesting the name, it really got me thinking about the parents
btw Blackthornkit's parents who left him to fend for himself promising (and lying) that they would come back as well as Peckkit's, Fringekit's, and Shrubkit's father that tried to drown them are currently unnamed, so if anyone wants to make something up for them, go ahead!
