Orange you glad it’s almost ❤️Valentine’s Day❤️? I love Valentine’s Day - not because it is for all those lovey dovey 🥰 types 🤢 I never had boyfriends much growing up and didn’t really date until I met my husband so I don’t have some nostalgiac ideals around this day. ❓❓So why do I like #valentinesday❓❓Do you know where it comes from? St. Valentine was martyred by Emperor Claudius for marrying Christian couples at a time when that was forbidden by the Roman emperor and where it impacted those men that may eligible to be sent off to war - which clearly peeved the emperor so he had the guy killed for doing something he thought was right before his God and his fellow men. While Valentine’s Day has become a symbol of romantic love - I don’t think that’s true to its origins. It’s about sacrificial love for others and loving something so deeply - your God and your fellow men - that you wanted to do something to help them no matter what the cost! That is not a kind of love I see every day and it’s certainly not the kind of love I give every day, but wouldn’t it be nice? So this Valentine’s Day - lets not think about the roses 🌹 chocolate 🍫 and kisses 💋but the real kind of love we can show our fellow humans because it is the right thing to do. How can we really help someone who is struggling or feeling alone?
