That was a well-plotted piece of non-claptrap that never made me want to retch
Maybe I'm a freak (and I am) but the fact that Bob is canonically known for knocking the bottom out of it lives rent free in my head
Black widower just turned 32 a couple weeks ago and it’s like my third favorite Simpsons episode so cheers to that here’s some art from last year I made celebrating its birthday
!! Pr*-sh*p do not interact !!

'If some snot-nosed little kid sent me to prison the first thing out, I'd find out where he lives and tear him a new belly-button.' - homer
'Lousy snitch.' - homer

I'm still not over the montage of Bart's attempts to explain the plot to Homer.
More scans of stuff I’m emptying out of my garage. This time it’s a box of saved materials from my years storyboarding on The Simpsons, which were seasons 2 and 3 (1990 to 1992: The Klasky/Csupo years). Back when I filled it, I certainly didn’t expect the show to last longer than the reign of Queen Elizabeth II!
And to think all of us were sweating bullets while we waited for a season 3 pickup!
Anyway, there’s probably little Simpsons art that isn’t on the internet by now. But here are a few things that have strong memories for me.
Top: A pasted together rough line-up of un-finalized designs I used while storyboarding the episode “Homer At The Bat” (8F13). I was lucky enough to storyboard the entire episode, which didn’t happen often. I previously posted on this tumblr some storyboards that were removed from the show after Jose Canseco objected to the script.
Look for it if you want to see what he objected to!
2nd Down: The layout artists often used the Xerox machine outside the storyboard room and would fill the recycle bins with their rejected copies. In the bin were often cool images just lying there for us to grab. This is one of the best. I’m not sure which layout artist drew this, but my guess would be Istvan “Steve” Fellner who drew the best nude Marge. He also smoked the most cigarettes outside the back door.
3rd and 4th Down: A couple of storyboard panels I drew for the episode “Bart The Lover” (8F16), the first time I had the opportunity to board all three acts of an episode. I can’t remember if these particular images made it to the final show, but they certainly communicate the sexiness Ms. Edna Krabappel was exuding in this ep.
5th Down: Sideshow Bob sketch. This looks too good to be my artwork! However, I can’t remember who did it. It was an inspiring visual aid for me when I was boarding an act of “Black Widower” (8F20), directed by David Silverman.
6th Down: Multiple Sideshow Bobs. Now these are mine. I had never drawn him before, so I was sketching him for practice. Since he was such a melodramatic villain, he had to be much more expressive than the usual Simpsons character.
Bottom Image: A typical note that one might find on their drawing table when they came to work from the mercurial Simpsons director, David Silverman. He left this the day after he gave me an intense, in-person, over-the-top reprimand for something I drew. It was like I lit the building on fire. Weird. Like this note.
