YOUR HEART BREAKS / PAUL BARIBEAU - YOUR HEART BREAKS plays their flawless song "Torrey Pines" about growing up, fucked up with a mom with mental health issues. So fucking good. I never cared about PAUL BARIBEAU's music. I think it's infantile and creepy. I might draw pictures on this side.Beautiful art by Nate Powell
YOUR HEART BREAKS / MADELINE - MADELINE ADAMS has one of the most beautiful voices in the world and will never receive all of the accolades she deserves. Her song, "Mountain Heart" is wonderful. YOUR HEART BREAKS throws out a slow-ass downer, full band style. Love it.Â
YOUR HEART BREAKS / WEBELOS - "Icy Roads To Index" is one of my favorite downer YHB songs. It sounds cold, lonely and like the saddest time ever..like I wanted to get out a blanket while listening to it. The WEBELOS song is okay, but I may never listen to it again. YHB song on repeat.Â
V/A - Play At Your Own Risk Vol 2 - PUD's song is good, but only because the chorus is a direct rip -off of the Laverne and Shirley theme. THE SLACKERS were hometown heroes in Alabama and their song "I Don't Care" is punk as fuck. The CHICKENHEAD song sounds like shit in the best way..recorded on a boom box. LES TURDZ with "I Live in a Shithole". Beautifully awesome. THE TEAMSTERS are cool. Did I mention that this is a double 7" comp with an extra 5" record? There's a lot of stuff on here. QUINCY PUNX are still boring. What were they thinking? THE CRUMBS play their RAMONES-style pop-punk and it sounds really dated. BLACK FORK is amazing as always, but the ANNIE AND CANDY KLUTZ song is seriously one of the BEST SONGS EVER WRITTEN!!!! "IIIII"LLL get an abortion if I want to ! and I'll kill my baby if I want to!! Fuck you and your bible too!!!" Why did they ever try to put a SECOND HAND song after that? The 5" inch record is a split between PROPAGANDHI and I SPY. The PROPAGANDHI song is a jokey dance song with synthesizers about porridge. It's pretty good, actually. I SPY goes into a real "whatever" zone.Â
