Black Falls - March 2006 This beautiful image of Black Falls is actually from very early spring. Water has started to flow once again, but the falls are still basically frozen. Black Falls is on private land, but as long as you stay in the creek bed, you can hike back to the falls. Black Falls is located about fifteen miles northeast of Cresco. MWM

Winter in Iowa - January 2010 This partially frozen creek is the creek that feeds Black Falls. I stopped alongside the highway and walked out onto the bridge to get this image. MWM

Black Falls in Early Spring - March 2006 Black Falls only has a large amount of water flowing over it after heavy rains, but for most of the year there is still some flow over the four-story drop. In the early spring, the water from the snow melt combined with the frozen ice formed on the rocks over the winter gives a beautiful image. MWM

Early Spring at Black Falls Creek - March 2006 This creek is downstream of Black Falls in northeastern Iowa. You can get to the falls by walking up this creek from a nearby bridge on the roadway. My intent was to get an early Spring image of the falls themselves, but the walk up the creek was just as beautiful. MWM

Favorite Number 04 Early Spring at Black Falls March 2006 Originally Posted November 26, 2014 Black Falls is a small waterfall (about 50’) located in northeastern Iowa. It is on private land, but you can reach it by walking up or down the creek. I wanted images from all four seasons and walked up the creek while the snow was still on the ground, but just starting to melt. The result was this image. MWM
