Regurgitator - Black Bugs
Recently I finished the audiobook version of Ready Play One after a long time of having it in iTunes and having it on my iPod Touch and iPhone and going "I'll finish listening to that at some point." Â the problem I had with it was the starting moments of the story was a bit of a slog for me as it did its world building and on some things seemed to go on a little too much about certain things. As a result of this I found it hard to go back and listen to the rest of the audiobook until recently when I decided to start over on listening to it and once that the story got through its world building stuff and started getting into the search for the first key I started getting into it. Quite soon after that I was hooked into this story of a virtual world made to be the ultimate gaming environment to escaping from the real world, and in it are several well hidden secret items and areas legions of people (individuals, clans, and corporations) are working hard to find as they could lead them to the ultimate prize, possession of the gaming world most sought after hidden easter egg and total control of the game it's in.
As I listened to the story I found my brain wanting to construct a soundtrack to it, with Regurgitator tracks like Black Bugs and Just Another Beautiful Story (both from the album Unit) taking up possible prominent positions in an artifical movie version that was also being built in my head. Ready Play One has really messed with my head and I don't think I'll be able to get it out anytime soon.
