god, the concept of slurs is just ?????????? to me??????
Like, I know there are words I'm not supposed to say yadda yadda. But then I se (any letter)-slur and I'm like? What does that mean? wtf is written there?
Then I have to google and then I'm like ?????? I've seen this word everywhere???? and in no bad contexts???????
or smetimes even google has no idea wtf ya'll are talking about and I'm??????????so???????confused???????
are there so many slurs? I've seen half the alphabet as a initial to a slur and I'm like?????????????????
Here at Brasil we just use tone to say if something is wrong or not. And, sure, there are words that are pretty ofensive and there are movements to make people stop using them, BUT WE TELL YOU WHAT WORD THAT IS.
for me ya'll sound like "don't say ******" period. There's not even a new word for us to use and I'm like??? ok, I wont tell you my password? wtf
I'm used to people advocating for politeness online to be "Hey, you know *this word*? Its hella offensive because of *historical context*. If you want to refer to *marginalized group* try using *this other word* intead :)"
For some reason that also reminded me of that once when instagram blocked the tag SEXTOU. Because gringos thought it was "sex to u" and not "uhul, its friday, lets party" (Sexta-feira is our friday, sextou is the act of using your friday to have a good time, whatever that means to you)
I don't even know what I'm talking about. Just a bit frustrated with language. I'm sure you can relate if your first lenguage isn't english.
(Also, I really need an expression for "amor de pica" :( but that's a wholenother story)
