POSTED WITH PERMISSION: Hi all. I'm writing this as a warning in the BJD Community. These kind of things seem to happen far too often and it's happened to me before (not exactly the same…) so I feel super stupid for even going through it again. Not everyone in our gorgeous community can be trusted and like real life, you can be scammed. I live in Australia on a part time wage and I save a lot of money to be able to buy food for myself, food for my pets, veterinary care for my pets, clothes and only then the dolls and their accessories that I want to buy. Back in early March I paid a total of $90 USD (NOT including shipping - this equals to approx $125 AUD) for two outfits to be commissioned for my SD doll. One being a white sheer/lace gown and the other, an already made blue satin gown. I paid this money to Kai Brown/FrostedWonderland Shop and I paid through paypal via Facebook messages communication. Kai told me at the beginning of the transactions "I keep money" but I did not realise that this meant No Refunds - I thought this meant "I will keep the money, unless something bad happens". Please, for the sake of others, if you do not do refunds, specify. After paying the full amount there was a lack of communication between Kai and myself, I had to start every conversation and in April/May I was told that he/she has started working on the commission piece. Again, I had to do all the communication and we did chat about other things, so it almost was like a friendship. Kai explained that when the item was done, he/she would send me a photo of what it looked like. We spoke on and off through April, May and June. We stopped talking for a while as I thought he/she was working on the piece and I thought I would receive a message about the item. A couple of months went passed without word and to be honest, I did forget about the piece. I have had some issues with my dogs health, so I was thinking about him rather than my dolls. I messaged Kai in early August and asked for an update. Kai responded by saying that they have had other commissions they were working on and never got around to mine. I was frustrated and requested a refund. Kai explained that he/she doesn't do refunds because the money goes straight towards him/her paying bills and for food. He/she also said, "I did say I don't do refunds" and I had to go back through messages and be told where they apparently said this. I was beyond upset and angry. I sent Kai a message in September asking when the items will be shipped and he/she said "On Friday I will ship the outfit". He/She then asked for the shipping payment! I explained that I wasn't going to pay for shipping since I had waited for such a long time and that I had actually bought two items. Kai had 'forgotten' that I purchased two items. Since August, I have been requesting a refund and the items. I have received photos of the original commission outfit being almost completed but it still needs to be fully sewn together. It is now October and Kai has stopped responding. I'm now just angry at myself for letting this happen. Please make sure you are careful with everything you buy online. Please make sure you are updated every day/week with your commissioned pieces. I hope this Kai person NEVER does this to anyone else. And I'd be interested in knowing if anyone else has had this happen to them. Since writing this (October 20th, give or take) Kai has sent me a tracking number but I'm unsure if this is legitimate.
