SOME had been FRIGHTENED when knowledge of their enemies’ CHILDREN reached them. SOME had been HEARTBROKEN, imagining the lives they’d known lived by yet ANOTHER innocent soul. RAPUNZEL had been angry. she was STILL angry.  ❝ i knew NOTHING of your existence. ❞  her INSISTENCE left no room for ARGUMENT — no one would have DARED argue with her, not after her REACTION in council when evie brought forth the name of GOTHEL’S daughter — and her GRIP on the all-too-thin girl’s wrist was FIRM, but unbelievably EMPATHETIC.  ❝ i would have ripped you from HER in an instant if i had. ❞ 

blue eyes squinted thoughtfully at the skinny girl.  ❝ i know you... from school? or somewhere else? ❞ 

       “hiding out from mother dearest again?” uma greeted as the girl came into view. she could only assume the other was there looking for somewhere safe to stay for the night. the lost revenge didn’t sail anymore, but it was often used as temporary lodging (or for some of her crew a permanent home). even uma spent most nights there sleeping in the captain’s quarters instead of going home to deal with her mother. it was the one place they were safe, none of their parents ever came too close to the old pirate ship. 

he raised an EYEBROW and even looked back over his shoulder at said SIGN before shrugging and SMILING that sparking, SNAKE-THIEF grin.  ❝ your MOM’S not serious, is she? ‘no TRESPASSING.’ where does she think she is? ❞  dad always said GOTHEL was DIFFERENT than the rest of the VILLAINS. maybe he wasn’t WRONG, after all.
