32 of 50: I had a fun, 80s inspired pic lined up, but then this happened. Self indulgent? Totally. Messy? Too right. I'm not apologising for it. I had a total meltdown last night, and my lovely son, who has enough shit to deal with right now, held me tight. This is part of my 50th year, and probably a major determinant for the rest of my life, so I'm documenting it. I know it doesn't define me, but I am so fucking tired. The arts sector is full of performative bullshit/ers. People who are publicly so vociferous about mental health, racism, classism, transphobia etc etc, especially when it gets them grants and bookings, but behind the scenes will look down on you, patronise you, call you a big girls blouse, and cancel you the second you call them out on their language or actions (or if you no longer have value to them). Thankfully there are also amazing, beautiful, genuine people, otherwise I would've jumped ship long ago. Sending love and gratitude to all the beautiful ones. The others can swivel.
