Bitsummit was a lot of fun and I actually played (or watched others play) enough games to warrant a writeup. I'm not a writer by any means but I have some thoughts so here it goes.
My Picks
Yodelee Golf
Super taken with this multiplayer co-op golf game (it turns out I love a golf game with a sense of whimsy. I knew this given my track record with 100ft Robot Golf, the game I bought a PS4 for.) I played the demo with a brother and his older sister in my group (the boy couldn’t have been older than 8.) One of them spent the whole demo trying to hit my golfer with their club, sending me flying humorously. We got so distracted playing chase that we almost didn’t complete the main demo hole, but we all cheered when we sunk the final ball (in this case it was a rubber duck) with literal seconds to spare. I keep thinking about it, it was just that charming.

ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs
There were apparently a couple “cozy” cleaning/restoration games at the show but this was the only one I played. It was nice to have the added element of disassembly and assembly in with the cleaning of the individual parts. The legally distinct electronics brands (in familiar form factors) were a fun touch.

Beetols They Do It
By far the most difficult title to google when you only remember the “Beetol” part of the title (autocorrect and an assumption that any misspelling of the word “Beetle” must mean you want information about the band are my enemy.) I’ll admit I didn’t actually play this one myself. That said, it's a beetles-with-old-man-faces friendship/romance sim with a colorful art style and a crass sense of humor so like, what am I going to do, not buy it?

Honorable Mentions
あなたに花束を (Flowers for You)
Technically I played this one last year but it was at the show this year too. I liked it enough to include it on the list.

TANUKI: Pon's Summer
I am a(n indie) corporate shill for this one. They gave me a very cool hat at last year’s show and my spouse is friends with the developers. Also it won an award this year?

Dr. Oops!
I didn’t play this one myself but my friend worked on it and it’s about an unlicensed doctor so YOU KNOW it goes on the list.

Real talk, the dev I talked to was nice but he kept assuring me Australian Rules Football was a real sport even after I’d told him I was familiar with and have been to a game in person. That said, it’s chaotic and colorful and I enjoy that in a game.
