Oops if I spelled fleur!
Fleur: is physical appearance important to you?
More than it should be. On one hand, Iâm an aesthete by nature, so it does brighten my day to see someone with an appealing outfit or face, to wear something pretty, and I see beauty in many different types of appearances. I like that, and I donât want to stop appreciating beauty. Thatâs not the point.
But I do want to see it as less important, because it really shouldnât be. Looking good IN ANY WAY should not be a tax people are required to pay to exist. No one was born to appeal to anyoneâs aesthetical tastes. Itâs one of the reasons why campaigns about ânatural beautyâ and âall women being beautifulâ annoy me so much. They might mean it as something more profound than that, but theyâre still putting the ideal of beauty in a pedestal when thatâs only a detail about who people are. Itâs all flesh and fabric, it rots and tears - convincing people that their self-worth is tied to it is very, very dangerous. Even if you learn to apreciate your own sort beauty there is ALWAYS going to be a moment where you wonât love how you look, and I wish I could learn to love myself even when I donât love my appearance.
