P.V. Jensen Klint (June 21, 1853 - 1930) was an autodidact Danish architect who designed several large churches in Copenhagen, for instance the Gothic-inspired yellow brick cathedral, Grundtvigs Kirke, in Bispebjerg.
Construction planning started in 1913, when Jensen Klint was already past 60, and the corner stone was laid down in 1920. First to be built was the organ-shaped steeple/tower shown here. The church was completed in 1940, 10 years after Jensen Klint had died. His son, the famous furniture designer, Kaare Klint, had taken over the work from his father, and his grandson Esben Klint, actually put in the very finishing touches such as the organ proper and the interior lighting...
