the type of person i hate alot is one who treats morality as a linear scale of good to bad, and not a whole complex web where bad actions can be forgiving under a certain context, but not others, and vise versa for good actions
morality is more than just doing and acting the most good, its abt being a person who is willing to change and grow despite ur shitty actions
even if they aren't, everyone deserves to be at least loved and cherished (but not excused). even if they do shitty things
(except billionaires and anyone who cares more abt money and pain than human life and peace)

it sucks because this affects alot of queer circles online too. and as someone living in the US south i cant really find people like me IRL, so i have to go online, where unfortnately everyone is distracted by stupid shit. I just want to hang out and chill, i don't care about pointless online discourse, we are all the same here and have a common problem, lets just help eachother and not tear eachother apart over pointless disagreements.
i think what people miss about forgiveness is that it
doesn't mean you still need to hang around and tolerate the person
is not for the other person, its for your own mental health
you forgive because holding hate in your heart for someone is bad for you mentally, it causes stress and agony, and it gives you a chance to undersand why the person acted the way they did, and therefore, gain more emphaty for all peoples
despite the forgiveness, you should, under no circumstances, be around people that hurt you, even if they have a whole tragic backstory. it doesn't justify hurt and it doesn't justify being around people that make you uncomfortable or even keep hurting you
in short, you should forgive more, but you shouldn't tolerate the bad behavior you forgive. If someone hurts you, they've lost the right to feel hurt if you leave them.
(this goes double if they don't make an effort to change)
