CanyonCountry was listening to classical radio, and a chorus started singing, “O we like sheep”. I couldn’t get an exact handel on the music, but suddenly remembered a fluffy bird throwing an Easter bash. Or holding an Easter bash, which seems like a rather different activity. I looked for pictures of sheep, or other fluffy creatures, and couldn’t find a fluffily posted recent picture.
As we had been discussing water, I next looked for a picture of natural water, not man-collected or man-wasted water. So many of my pictures show clear evidence of water (like Mars!). Except for a little snow on a distant peak, the most recent pictures with water or rain or directly rain-affected were posted last May and June and taken a year ago. For example, https://countryofthecanyons.tumblr.com/post/619569052715778048/companions (which might be a lighter, more pleasing photo for a little bird, no matter how fluffy).
Then I remembered this little band visiting our city tree outside my window. While nearby, I was indoors and they let me take some backlit pictures. They do stop by for a week or so every winter, but haven’t introduced themselves, and I don’t know their names. I stopped taking pictures and watched for a while until my eyes drooped. As they flew away, I woke from dreaming of birdsong, “All we like sheep”.

Algy thanks his good friend @biostatprof very kindly for taking such trouble - and for such an interesting story - and above all for this splendid image, which seems perfect as night falls on the final day of Algy’s Easter Parade. After a very exciting Easter weekend, the participants are getting drowsy now, and soon it will be time to sleep and dream again…
Happy Spring and Happy Easter to you all 🐇🐥🌷🐥🐇
Hello Algy!
I’m an Egyptian goose from South Africa. biostatprof told me there was a party but I’m late late late.
Hello Egyptian goose from South Africa!
I’m truly delighted that you were able to come to my birthday party from so very far away! Please don’t worry about being late - there’s still a wee bit of ice cream left, and the balloons are still bouncing around :)
I know that it takes birds a long, long time to travel from Africa to the Scottish Highlands - I meet many summer visitors here who have made that arduous flight. You are most welcome, and I’m sending lots of fluffy hugs to your friend @biostatprof for telling you about my party xo
@biostatprof
This hasn’t been posted to my blog yet, but will be some day. I heard that Algy was in need of bees, so here is a photo of a bee taken today in California in my garden. Buzz buzz.
Algy was delighted to receive this lovely bee sent by his friend @biostatprof in sunny southern California -thank you so much :)))) Algy has never visited California, but he has a suspicion that life there is not quite the same as life on the wild west coast of the Scottish Highlands...
Algy loves bees, and spends happy hours watching them when the weather is warm enough for them to buzz about. But just now the temperature here is only a couple of degrees above freezing, and there is sleet and snow forecast for the next few days, so Algy has not yet seen a bee this year.
Algy sends you and all the Californian bees lots of very fluffy hugs xoxo

I need a hug or 6 shots of vodka.
Why not both?
