I found this article highly interesting because I learned something new in this reading. I was never aware that the female biological processes are less worthy than males. However, it is still difficult for me to understand why the female reproductive system is seen as wasteful when males produce 100 million sperm per day. Although women are born with their germs, they have a menstrual cycle to excrete one egg per month. Men, however, produce trillions of sperm throughout their lifetime, and the only way to get rid of them is through ejaculation. Nonetheless, I found it interesting that the zona is an aggressive sperm catcher, and it can capture a sperm with a clasp to the zona’s surface. Although some researchers may find the female biological processes less worthy, and interdependent, it is strong because it actually chooses an appropriate sperm and protects it from any harm. I agree that the egg plays an active role in the biological processes; however, I do not think it is over aggressive because that is the way humans are created. Lastly, cultural stereotypes say that woman is a dangerous and aggressive threat because the egg is the female aggressor who captures the sperm to her zona.Â
