Binge-Free Challenge Days 1-2
Day 1: Why are you doing the 30 day binge free challenge?
I'm doing the challenge because it's the biggest thing I've never been able to overcome. Â I am in no way diagnosing myself as having binge eating disorder; I'm not based on the definition. Â However, I would say about 1-2X/week for the past few months I have had a serious binge. Â It almost always happens at my parents' house and usually consists of me eating a days worth of calories in 1-3 hours. Â It also usually includes me eating a lot of non vegan foods even though I'm vegan. Â
All I want is to get through a month and prove to myself that I'm strong enough to stop that behavior, that I'm worth it, and that I'll be a happier person for it. Â I don't have the best body image, and never have, so I'm hoping that if I can make it through this month, I will be able to improve my mentality towards my body and my self-control.
Day 2: What do you define as a binge?
I don't feel like I am in the position to define a binge, so I adhere to the accepted definition of eating a unusually large amount of food in a short period of time characterized by a loss of control but does not involve a punishment like purging or overexercising after (which would be considered bulimia). Â
For me, that's exactly what a binge is when it happens to me. Â It feels like this force takes over in my head and I don't have a choice to stop it even if I want to. Â I know that seems like crap, and sometimes I feel like I can stop it when I first start, but there's usually a point of no return, and that's what scares me.Â
