Weeds arched out from the cracks in the pavement,

splitting them ever wider.  Swallows swooped by,

pigeons puffed up their breasts, butterflies

paused to rest atop flowers, flies buzzed, never still,

while a swarm of mosquitoes formed a column.

Trees lined the streets, their leaves whispered

in the wind, and still, not a human voice.

Nobody walking the city streets.

Forty five thousand people are playing
