Think you could make a Digimon World Dusk / Dawn Nuzlocke work?
I haven’t played these, but I have a gist of how they work and I just watched 2 seconds of a review video so here are my thoughts
One of the main things that sticks out is adapting the “first found in an area” rule. Digimon games (like Dawn/Dusk) work off “scanning” the digimon and you have to interact with the digimon multiple times to do that. My amended nuzlocke rule would be to say you must note which Digimon you encountered first and can only use that one, if you get the scan to 100%.
Another amendment to that rule could be level based - you only get to scan/download (whatever the phrasing is) one of each type of baby - and you must stick to one evolution line.
The other thing about this is A) Digimon, especially in the game have multiple evolution lines and B) require different levels of ABI which involves evolving them up and down from their levels. So to do a nuzlocke I would propose you either have to pick an evolution line, and you can evolve up and down that line ONLY, or you have to be rigid and only evolve up, never dedigivolving and sacrifice any option for high ABI evolutions.
You would also have to discern areas. There’s tons of dungeons but different subparts of those dungeons. Youd have to propose a rule about what counts as a new area and what doesn’t - this adds to your options for partners.
It’s also limiting on what digimon you can convert to data to raise the stats of other digimon you have.
I would probably definitely stick with the “if they die they’re dead” rule. The voice in my head says “but Willis, digimon don’t actually die they’re just reborn” *queue smash mouth all star*
That’s pretty much what I could think of right now. It wouldn’t be impossible to do a digimon world nuzlocke but it would take some rule adapting to fit the games mechanics
If you try lmk what rules you use and how it goes :)
