What I love about them: My favorite things about Babs really come from the fact that she’s mature beyond her years in most canon. She’s determined and forceful, but most importantly she’s very intimately aware of the circumstances around her. She can be stubborn and a bit too controlling, but she’s genuinely caring and protective. And most importantly of all, she doesn’t give up and she does’t obsess about things passed. 

What I hate about them: Beyond the focus on her to the detriment of all characters following her or sometimes even around her? Completely throwing out her characterization in a end-justifies-the-means sort of way? I guess I really don’t like that I’ve not ever connected to a version of her as Batgirl that wasn’t the old 70s version because.... well I guess according to most of the internet it’s because I’m a snob, but mostly I’d argue it’s because retroactively they’ve tried to make her younger and younger to be “Batgirl” when she was college-age-to-adult originally. I know she’s technically college age now but it’s.... very different writing these days. Which whatever.

What I would like to see less focus on: Honestly? Romance. It was never a huge deal for Babs before but now it’s like. The most news I get about Babs anymore is shipping related stuff.

Favorite pairing with: Dick Grayson, Dinah Laurel Lance, Kara Zor-El. All equal.

Favorite friendship: Dinah and Helena for sure

does canarystorm count as a rairpair? i don’t really see a lot of it

One, I love that there is apparently enough content that you would even question that this is a rare pair. That seriously just made my day.

Two, oh my god. I’ve incorporated so many of my canarystorm headcanons into various fics. I’ll try to keep these to ones that are not in my fics so it’s some original goodness.

Jax asks Sara out. 

Sara just doesn’t really know how to make the first move? She’s never really had to? She usually just awkwardly hangs around a person until they realize they love her and then they make the first move. And oh my god, why won’t Jax make a move already? Is he just not into her?

Jax being lowkey into Sara from their first mission with Stein where she got stoned and flirted with Marty just to freak Stein out. But nothing happening and they just become friends and then one day he’s like “shit I’m actually a little in love with her?”

He still takes forever to make a move because it’s Sara and there’s no way she’s actually into him too. Plus, what they have is so good right now, why would they mess that up?

Zari asking Amaya, Ray, and Nate what’s the deal with Sara and Jax and if they’re together. Ray being like, “What? No. That’s just how Sara and Jax are.” and Nate being like, “Yeah, he’s like her brother.” And Amaya being like “Wait. What? You two really think they’re like siblings?” And Zari being like, “Do you look at your brother the way Sara looks at Jax?” “Oh God n- oh. Yup. Definitely see it now.” 

There’s a betting pool on when they’re gonna hook up. Zari starts it but immediately loses because she is new and thinks they have to get together soon because she has no idea that two people can this stupidly in love and not do anything about it. 

It takes Jax forever, but one day they’re getting ready to celebrate a successful mission and he just looks at her and is like, “do you wanna go out?” and she’s like “??? we are on our way out?” and Gideon almost loses it. 

“No. I mean, like with me. Do you want to go out with me? Like, on a date.” And Sara is so excited that she kisses him and is like, “What took you so long?” 

The rest of the team literally throws a party when they find out because fucking finally. 

Listen, Beverly didn’t raise a fool. Jax is fucking dream to date. He transmutates random presents for her, calls her beautiful, has a sweet nickname for her.

Sara training him, consistently reminding him that he matters to the team/her more than just as Firestorm, helping him out when his knee starts to bother him.

Beverly adores Sara. Like, Jax starts to get a little jealous over it. 

Team Arrow is about this. Except Oliver is a little jealous that she’s more openly affectionate with Jax than she was with him.
