"They no longer wonder about the meaning of their life. They know who they are at a depth far below any of the social or vocational details of everyday existence. They no longer ask what the point of life is, whether of their particular life or of life generally — even if they do not yet know the specific ways they will embody their mythopoetic identity. They have been blessed with a mission bigger than themselves, one that stretches far beyond the temporal horizon of their own life. This one gift makes all the difference. It’s of greater value than all the material riches of the world. Now they know how they belong not only to their social group or to the organizations they work with but, more significantly, to the greater Earth community and to the unfolding of the cosmos. They know what they were made for. They no longer experience the existential doubt and unrest that emanate from the core of most contemporary human psyches. It’s like falling in love but longer lasting and bigger; this is, after all, falling in love with the world and all of life."
