R.I.P. Bill Doss of the Olivia Tremor Control

Bill Doss, founding member The Olivia Tremor Control and Elephant 6 recording collective has passed away. He was 43. The devastating news came early this morning.The band announced his passing on its website, saying, “We are at a loss for words.”

The lo-fi pop band, which includes Doss’ childhood friends W. Cullen Hart and Jeff Mangum, hit its stride in the mid-‘90s with the albums “Music from the Unrealized Film Script: Dusk at Cubist Castle” in 1996 and “Black Foliage: Animation Music Volume One” in 1999. Last year, OTC released the new single, “The Game You Play Is in Your Head,” and were said to be toying with the idea of a new album.

And although the cause of death has yet to be announced we can safely say that we will greatly miss Doss; a musical pioneer and inspiration for many...
