For Speak Your Language Day, I'm teaming up with LittleEvilIsa, who speaks Italian, to create an Everlark drabble (which is becoming a one-shot!) in honor of this day.  I am writing the drabble in English and she will translate it into Italian and both versions will post on that day.  

I'm really excited about this project!  I will post updates on its progress. Here's a little snippet of the English version so you can see what we are working on.  I was heavily inspired by The Book Thief  but my narrator is Katniss, not Death!  The setting is, of course, Everlark during WWII:

"He held a book in his hand like a talisman – he never let it go, except when he sunk into sleep from the fever and illness.  One day, not being able to resist my curiosity any longer, I slipped the book out of his hands and leafed through it carefully.  It was a full of sketches – here a green plant that I could almost feel growing out of the page.  There, a beautiful trilling bird, the sound already dancing in my ears.  He loved people and drew them in various mundane activities such as washing or baking.  From his sketches of buildings I learned he loved symmetrical things.  He drew rocks and hands and every manner of common objects.  There was also poetry interspersed throughout the pages. From these I learned that he feared death.  He felt most at home glazing cakes and  baking bread. He longed for love. I thought I had understood beauty before but he stretched those boundaries for me through his drawings.  I learned that he was beautiful.  And I desperately wanted him to live."
