I really really really really really really really really really fell in love with these webtoons and I encourage everyone to go support these artists and their amazing work!!!!!!

Oooh, it’s been a while since I’ve been on there.  I haven’t read them in a long time, but there were two webtoons I follow!

The first comic I ever read on the site is called Big Jo by Jungle Julia.  Following the life of “Big Jo”, an overweight teen, I was ecstatic to see that Jo didn’t take crap from anyone, and she was strong.  It was so refreshing to see something about someone young and overweight who wasn’t frail, but rather, had a lot of muscle strength.  A classmate takes her on as a challenge for a gym class project, determined to help her lose weight.  He quickly learns that Jo is not weak, in both body and spirit.  Melodrama, love triangles (squares? hexagons?), and self-discovery ensue as Jo ventures out of her comfort zone.  Despite the ham-fisted messages about toxic reality television, it’s still a really juicy story that keeps me clicking for the next page.

The second one, and this one I absolutely adore is My Giant Nerd Boyfriend by Fishball.  It’s a slice of life autobiographical series that is cute and heartwarming - focusing on the little things in long-term relationships and how beautiful and silly they are at the same time.  The artist is very relatable in her own insecurities and dreams, fun adventures with her family and her daily life with her boyfriend.  This series really drives home how wonderfully cozy and sweet a relationship can be with your best friend, and there is never a dull moment!
