Big Bites is actually a very small establishment, seemingly no larger than a coffee shop. Perfect for fitting in the cramped streets of Oldtown. But the restaurant looks bigger from the inside, really. Sure, it’s a bit of a novelty, with oversized furniture and decor, but something about the proportions feels, well, less like a design choice and more like you’ve shrunk upon passing through the door. So weird! The restaurant has a few different themed rooms – there’s the living room, the garden, and the attic. Reservations fill up fastest for the living room, and almost no one wants to sit in the attic. It’s full of enormous boxes and cobwebs. Despite the theming, Big Bites has good but typical American food, offering a fun experience for friends and families.

Everything in the restaurant is scaled to make customers feel tiny (and it’s definitely just a feeling, right?) – enormous silverware and plates that could double as bathtubs. The usual food, however, is properly sized for eating. If you want the “giant meals,” those cost more and come from a special Bigger Bites menu.

If it seems like your voice is higher pitched while you’re here, no it doesn't and don’t worry too much about it. The restaurant says this is just because of the “air” in here.

Those who eat here sometimes suffer from vertigo. But if anyone is worried they’re actually small, they’ll be relieved to find themselves usually regular-proportioned once they finish their food and leave. Yes, usually. Read the reviews online. The bad ones tend to be very brief, perhaps due to some keyboard trouble.

At least one person has allegedly gotten lost in the thick shag carpet of the living room, requiring rescue by the local fire department.

If you end up eating in the garden room, you might not be alone while you’re dining. Yes, the restaurant is trying to deal with their ant problem. Really. But somehow these giant ants keep sneaking in. The people carried off by them probably would have preferred getting lost in the shag carpet like that other guy.
