ummm you can make shoes last longer then a year?
have several pairs, scuffs acceptable (except on formal shoes), toss them as the soles lose traction....unless they're leather & have cobbler or manufacturer replace.
Plus depends on the shoe, loafers/dock siders last awhile. Whereas my winter walking shoes (Merrell's) I'll go through 2 pair a season, their rubber wears off quickly - but I do walk more than the average person. Same goes with sandals (flip flops or Teva's) lucky to last a season.
The only sneakers/trainers I wear are when I'm participating in a sport. I don't like to wear them, too hot.
