the one i put up a while ago but didn't finish then deleted because reasons idk ha
âNo,â he says a mouth full of food.
She leans over and takes a piece of chicken off of his plate. He looks at her annoyed. âWell Iâll tell you again then. Theyâre coming for like three weeks or something andââ
âLike at a hotel around here?â
âNo. As in sleeping in the guestroom,â
âNo. The one down the street.â Elodie says sarcastically.Â
Blake shrugs. âYou shouldâve just said that then.â
âYES OUR GUESTROOM.â She sets her food down on the counter and gets up to get water.
ââŚthatâs kind of a long time donât you think?â heâs not really worried, more just confused as to why anyone would stay with someone for a month.
âIt wonât be weird I swearâŚand thereâs more.â
âSomewhere within those weeks weâre going on a road trip to Seattle because I already made reservation weeeeeeeeeeeeâŚ..â she doesnât turn around afraid to see his reaction.
He doesnât say anything for a while. âWell?â she asks.
âYou canât just not talk to me about stuff. What if I have something planned that weekend?â
âYou donât though, I checked with your agent and everything. I know your schedule better than you do.â
âSo you checked with everyone but me?â Disbelief lacing his voice. âYouâd throw a fit if I planned an entire fucking weekend and didnât tell you about it until a week before. I donât like that ElâŚâ he finishes his food and puts his dishes in the sink.Â
He walks past her, making his way to the office.Â
âOkay fine,â she quietly says to herself. âI guess Iâm cleaning up by myself.â
âBlake.â She says when heâs lying as far away from her as possible. âB câmon I said I was sorryâŚif you move any farther away from me youâre going to fall off of the bed.â And thatâs saying a lot because Blakeâs bed is a California Kingâthe biggest mattress size possible.
âBabe Iâm coldddd.â
âTurn off the AC,â He mumbles into his pillow. El would rather sleep in like 30 degree room temperature than sleep without any coversâŚBlake doesnât like it at all, because heâd rather be a bit uncomfortable than freezing cold and yeah.Â
âNoooo.â She pouts. âIâm sorry.â
âYou seriously want me to grovel?â
âFine. Blake I sincerely apologize for not talking to you before I booked the most kick ass five day trip weâve ever been onânot counting Key Westâandââ
âI donât hear much groveling in there,â
She sighs. âIâm sorry for not communicating with you better and Iâll work on it.â
âGettinâ thereâ he says again into his pillow.
âAnd youâre the best person and you donât deserve to not be in the loop and I canât always call the shots anââ she starts going on and on about the talk they had a few weeks back when things got really rocky. Both of them had been under a lot of stress I guess and I donât know what it was but one of them did something that really pissed off the other one and they didnât talk for two days and it was a mess.
He finally lifts his head up and moves closer and to his side so that his face is right in front of hers. âOkay.â He says quietly.
She exhales a sigh of relief. âThank you.â and she turns away from him as his arms come around her waist. With his head in the crook of her shoulder she cranes her neck as if she can see him. âI love you Blake.âÂ
âI know.â He says and his warm breath tickles her neck. âShut up please so I can sleep,â he presses his lips to the base of her neck and they fall asleep.
So something did come up. It was two days before Elâs friends were supposed to arrive actually. Blakeâs father was hospitalized because his blood pressure was really high even though he was one of the healthiest men either of them knew.Â
âI can come with you.âÂ
âNo D... Itâll be fine. Heâs going to be fine.â She could hear the slight edge of worry in his voice and she didnât blame him either. Sheâd be a mess if this were someone she really cared about.
âIâll be there for a few daysâthe whole week maybe. Dammit. I feel bad now about your friends and I wonâtââ
âStop that. This is more important you hear me?â
A look of worry passes over his face. âDonât worry about me. And call me when you can okay? I want to make sure that heâs okay.â
âIâm going to the airport to pick up BlakeâŚseriously you two. Can you PLEASE behave while Iâm goneâliterally itâs an hour there and backâŚdonât break anything, donât finish the food I bought and donât have sex in our bed I swear to godââ
âOkay okay you can go now,â Tess says already opening the fridge.
âBYEâ she says as she slams the door behind Elodie.Â
âTess, Nico, this is Blake, Blake Tatenda and Nico.â Elodie says smiling brightly. âIntroductions are kind of late but,â she laughs again. Sheâs really giddy and just HAPPY. Blake is back home safe and soundâPapa Griffin is healthyâŚBlake had been gone for two weeks. They were supposed to go to Seattle the past weekend, but Elodie just pushed it forward, back? again. She wanted Blake to be there and a part of Blake wanted to be there too.Â
âIâm just glad I didnât completely miss you guys. Itâs really nice to meet you.â Blake hugs Tess and shakes Nicoâs hand. Heâs actually genuinely excited to meet people that were a part of her life before he was. Itâs likeâŚlooking into the past and seeing the present kind ofâŚ
âAw Iâm so glad to meet you aswell! Howâs your father? Or is it your mother Elodie told me one of them was in the hospital?â  Tess says concerned.Â
âIt was my dad, but heâs fine now.â
âAlways good to hear,â Nico says smiling.  âWeâve both heard so much about you bro,âÂ
Blake smiles sideways to Elodie. âYou have have you?â
âSeriously she never shuts up I swear you guys are married or somethingâoops.â Tess stops herself when she feels Elâs glare on her.Â
Blake shifts kind of uncomfortable.Â
âOkay, SO in a perfect world as in this is the first time you were ever in our house, Iâd be giving you the grand tour but I already did that so,â she makes her way to the kitchen. âI thought we could go to HuntingtonâŚâ she wrings her hands together. âB you up for it or?â
âI hate to be the party ruiner but I think Iâm just going to sleep. Iâm tired.â He fills up his glass of water and makes his way to the bedroom.Â
âYou donât have to come with us. We can take care of ourselvesâŚgetting lost in L.A. is on muh bucket list anywayâ Tess says.
So Elodie waves the two of them off with emergency numbers and everything. Then she makes her way to their bedroom and flops down on the bed. She can hear Blake in the shower and the pitter patter of the water lulls her to sleep.Â
âWhat are you doing?â Blake says tired but amused. âI thought you went withââ
âIâm beat. And Tessâs fine with it.â
âOh.â He walks into the closet to put on sleep clothes.Â
âYou know what we should do?â she says flipping onto her stomach.Â
She gets up and joins him in the closet.Â
She wraps her hands around his bare torso. âWe could,â she looks up at him swaying slightly.Â
âWe could what?â he says softly a smirk carving itself into his face.Â
She brings her lips up to his. âYou tell me.â And she looks him dead in the eyes.
âI missed youâŚâ he strokes the side of her face with his thumb, moving his hand to the side of her face. âI love you Elodie.â He says quietly.Â
âI knowâŚâ she says smiling to herself. âDo you know how lonely I was when I went to bed? No one was there to tell about my day and you werenât there to tell me about yoursâŚâ Blake hadnât called every night and she hadnât expected him to. His fatherâs health was more important than anything.
âIâm just happy youâre backâŚgoodness I want to do so much to you right now but I canâtâŚâ
âUh says who?â he asks his entire face amused.Â
âSays Tess and Nico.â She sighs. âI donât know what time theyâre getting backâŚfuck,â
âme please,â he says he says cheekily.
She slaps him lightly but doesnât step back. âCan you put a shirt on now? Youâre distracting me.â
âFrom whatâŚâ he asks pressing himself into her. âBreathing in and out,â and she brings her lips to his again and it feels so good. He feels so good. Itâs like they were meant to be together you know? Just the way their bodies fit together and their breathing is so in sync and his skin is warm and hands roving over his chest her chest, his abdomen and her abdomen, arms, all the while their mouths fitting together, together, together, together.
Blake pulls away to catch his breath. âYou. Are mean,â
âWait what?â she says flustered. Sheâs still trying to come back down to earth as corny as it sounds.
He chuckles. âYou kissed me like that and then you say we canât do stuffââ
âYou kissed me like that too,â she says with a short laugh.
âYeah okay,â he says sarcastically.Â
âHmmm. You know,â she runs her hands over the clothes that are hanging up. âI feel like I should be bothered that you have as many clothes as I doâŚbut then Iâm like waitâŚthat just means more sharing oppurtunities for me,â
âI think thatâs weird as hell.â He says slipping on an old OU hoodie.
âThat you wear my clothes like in public,â
âItâs not weird,â she says sticking her tongue out at him. âWhen styled rightâI always style it rightâit looks pretty damn good.â
âHOkay.â He says. âwhatever you say.â
âIâm serious. Like this shirt,â she pulls out a dark blue plain dress shirt. âI wore it with my sparkly leggings when I went to dinner last week with those two,â
âDo you want like a sticker or somethingâŚ?â
âShut up. Iâm trying to prove a point.â
He pretend to zip his mouth shut and throw away the key.Â
âIâm gonna wear this to prove a point,â she says grabbing one of his Clippers hoodies.
She takes it with her to the bedroom and she starts making herself comfortable on the bed. She grabs the remote on Blakeâs side of the bed turning on the TV.Â
He shakes his head laughing. âWhat time is it?â
âLike tenâŚâ I think she says laying on her stomach.
âDonât you think they should be back by now?â
âI guess yeah. Iâm going to wait until 11.30 and if theyâre not back by thenâthen I donât know, I guess weâll find out. OH MY GOODNESS.â She jumps up going to the bathroom leaving Blake confused.Â
âYouâre so weirdâŚâ he says to himself. âAHHHHHHâ he says loudly his whole body melting into the pillows. Thereâs nothing like coming home to your own bed. Nothing.Â
âAHHHHHHâ Elodie mimicks. âhuuuuuuuuh oh Blake, oh yaaaaaaaaaaah,â she moans. She has two bottles of nail polish in her hand and a bottle of nail polish remover in the other.Â
âStop ittttâ he says throwing a pillow at her. It hits her square in the face and she frowns. âBooo,â
âWhatâs the nail polish for?âÂ
âPutting on my face.â
âAre you serious?â he asks distracted by the TV. âAw pichachu you recorded Workaholics for me,â
âI did. And no Iâm not serious, Iâm gonna paint my toenails.â
âYou havenât done that in forever,â
âYeah but I got this nail polish thatâs like reflective seeeee?â she holds up the tiny bottle so that he can see it.Â
âThatâs really cool omg,â
âAre you being sarcastic?â usually she could pick up on it in an instant usually when he actually said âomgâ but she couldnât really tell.
So she paints her toenails for a while and Blake watches her while trying to watch Workaholics at the same time. âYou keep staring at me doing thisâŚâ she says concentrated on her left foot. âDo you want to try?â she asks laughing.
He looks at her like sheâs crazy for a second and then a smile slowly spreads over his face. âYeah.â
âHAHA NO DONâT HOLD IT LIKE THAT,â she says. Neither of them has stopped laughing.Â
âHow am I supposed to hold it then?â he asks laughing.Â
âLike aâa pencilâ she says. âGah my stomach hurts from laughing Blake,â
âI think Iâm doing a pretty solid jobâŚâÂ
âHELLLOOO WHERE ARE YOU GUYS?!!â Reeseâs voice echoes through the house.Â
âTESS INSIDE VOICE,â Nico says equally loudly.Â
Blake looks up at her amused. âAre they always like this?â he asks quietly.Â
âYeah they are, WEâRE IN HERE!â Elodie responds loudly.Â
They hear pitter pattering coming down the hall and they pass the door even because their talking gets farther away. Blake gets up and opens the set of doors. âIn here guys,â he says.
âI hope we didnât disrupt sex or something.â Tess says completely serious.
âNo.â Elodie says completely deadpan.
âWhat were you guys doingâŚ?â Nico asks looking at the nail polish removers, nail buffers, and candy wrappers. âIt looks like 12 year old girls were in here having a slumber partyâŚâ
âDonât worry about it,â Elodie says clicking off the TV. âHow was the beach?âÂ
âHA.â Tess says loudly. She makes herself comfortable at the edge of the bed. âWe didnât go. We went to the Grove? Yeah I think it was the Grove. Loads of shops and stuff. We bought you two chocolates at Godiva,â she says triumphantly.
Blake laughs. âWhy didnât you go? To the beach,â
âOh we tried,â Nico says resting back on the dresser. âWe got lost and we both said âfuck thisâ.â He shrugs. âThe shops always win.â
âThey do,â Elodie says like sheâs been through it all. âThey really do.â
âStop ittt.â Elodie says to Blake who keeps closing her suitcase with his foot. Tomorrowâs the big dayâroadtrip to SeattleâŚthat meant being in the car with nico, tess, and blake for wellâŚa really long time.Â
Elodie sighs piling her hair atop her head. âHow about yes. Whereâs my North Face?â she snaps walking into their closet. Her jackets and coats were all on one side and his on the other. âSeriously babe Iâm tired.â
âItâs already in mine,â he says calmly watching her walk back and forth and back again. She glances at the clock and lets out a frustrated mix between a scream and a squeal. âAre you actually going to sleep now?â
âNo,â  she starts making her way to the bathroom. âIâm not done yet.â
Blake shakes his head having had enough of this. Elodie had been packing for about three hours now and this ski trip? It was only six days. They werenât even flying. Blake wanted to fly but El had insisted that a road trip would be more fun.Â
âWait itâs a roadtrip? What the hell D?â
âItâll be fun trust me!â
âThatâs seventy hours.â
âYouâre over exaggerating.â
âYou wanna fucking bet?â
He comes to the doorway and flicks the light off. âIf you donât go to bed, Iâll get no sleep.â He says steadily.
âWha-!? Switch the light on!â She says makeup bag in hand.
âElodie.â He says mocking her tone.
âThis is no time for jokes!â
âYeah itâs a time for sleep.â He takes her by the arm, but she yanks it away.Â
âSwitch the damn light on.â
âYou.â he says bringing his arms up and under her. âAre impossible to deal with.â
âI swear to God if you pick me uââ he picks her up in one swift motion. Â
âPut me downnnnnâ she whines writhing and kicking her legs back and forth. He does put her down, but only when they reach the bed.Â
âBlake.â She says frowning. âYouâre not helping me out here.â She says quietly.Â
âYes I am,â he says covering her with one of the blankets at the foot of the bed. âWittle Elodie needs some TLC during her Special Week doesnât she?â he says in a fake motherly tone.
âI canât believe you just said that.â She says quietly into her pillow.
Blake flips the light off in the room, and slides in himself. Finally. âGoodnight.â
Thereâs no response because sheâs already asleep.
âOoo the zebra bitch is out,â Elodie said rolling her eyes and leaning her head against the window.Â
Nico doesnât turn around because heâs the one driving. âDonât talk to her like that,â he says seriously. Blake next to him in the passenger seat doesnât say anything because heâs busy playing some game on his phone.
âNico youâre not even in this.â Elodie says taking a packet of gummy bears from in between her and Tess. The floor beneath them is littered with bags and sweatshirt and even a pillow.Â
âI DONâT CARE, Iâm not going to let you talk to her like that.â He says a bit too sternly. He makes Elodie flinch.Â
âBabe calm down Itâs fineâŚâ
âNo itâs not.â He says boredly.Â
Tess sighs slouching down in her seat. âThis is going to be a long ass trip.â She says letting out a yawn.
Blake still fixated on his screen says, âEl donât call your friend a zebra bitchâŚâ he turn his head so that heâs looking at her. âWhat is a zebra bitch? That canât be a real thingâŚâ
âOh itâs a thing,â Elodie says glaring at Tess. Tess feels her gaze but ignores her completely. âNico, would you be oh so kind to turn on the radio?â Blake flips a few switches and Elodieâs favorite station comes softly through the speakers.Â
âAre we almost there I kinda wanna get out of this car, itâs hot and Iâm getting irritate.â Tess says removing her hoodie for the fifth time in the past hour.Â
