I can’t wait until Patch 8 releases, since I got the idea to play as Ysuran. (Though he won’t be as strong as in BGDA2 ofc, since you can’t just spam vampiric touch or shocking grasp, which in that game cannot be blocked, or just keep recasting shield. Like, seriously, if there weren’t so many undead or construct enemies, he’d be pretty OP.) But if I want him to naturally have proficiency in medium armour rather than waste a feat, I’ll need to put at least one level into cleric, and the only domain that fits him… is the new Death domain. (Having spirit guardian would be pretty sweet, too—which means I’d need at least 5 levels if I want them. I may just do an even split, lv 6 School of Necromancy wizard/lv 6 Death Domain cleric. Unless I also include some levels in Shadow Magic sorcerer later on? Haven’t looked too much at that one.)
I am most likely going to end up playing him before Adrian (I’ve decided to just use both names and make Lir his surname), especially since Adrian will be Tav and Ysuran Durge, whom I haven’t played yet. Durge’s resist path fits well with Ysuran’s background of being part of the Eldreth Veluuthra and then having his memories wiped when his master tried to kill him after finding out who he was, and then making his way to Baldur’s Gate and finding himself becoming its hero, and then being horrified of who he used to be when he regains his memories and shedding his surname because Ysuran Auondril a.k.a. Auondril the Manslayer is dead now and he chooses to do good and try to make up for his past atrocities.
I don’t know if he still would have a particular hatred for humans as Durge (hells, we don’t even know what he had against them in DA2, merely that he had wanted their genocide), but I think it would be hilarious if he did and Gortash of all people was the sole exception lmao
