✢ for a good memory that makes them smile.

there is a fragility to jessica jones which only kilgrave can see.

she rips open her knuckles while she’s on a job, & he doesn’t realise until after she’s finished. the man lies on the ground, bruised & broken–boned. it took longer than if kilgrave had simply made him slam his head against a wall, or had him walk off a roof, but why have a dog & bark yourself? jessica could teach him a slower & more painful lesson, one he wouldn’t soon forget.

taking her hand, he sees that her skin is torn open. there’s tender flesh underneath, bright red & glistening. he strokes his thumb across the injuries gently, & jessica winces.

“does it hurt?” he asks, frowning at her curiously. she’s so strong that he sometimes forgets she feels pain.

“yes,” she says, simply. “it hurts.”

at that, he raised her hand to his lips & kisses her knuckles softly. “no more jobs for you,” he promises, meeting her gaze solemnly. “not until you’re better. i don’t want you to hurt yourself.”

she smiles gratefully at him, and whispers “thank you.”

when they get home, kilgrave wraps her hand in bandages, & then kisses her slowly, gently. she’s tired from beating up the thug, & he needs to be careful. he pushes her onto her back, & looks down at her. she’s so beautiful like this, now he’s seen how breakable she can be.

“you want this,” he whispers, & she nods.

“i want this.”
