“The End? That’s what I’m supposed to call you?”

Veronica glares daggers at him. Normally, when she summoned a Hero, they ceded to her power instantly. But this one was ... different. Wrong. His powers were beyond even her’s, and, judging by the snide grin on his face, he knew it. For once, she was helpless. She was facing an interloper and there was little she could do about it. 

The notion didn’t sit right with her. She may have been young, but her resolve was of steel. If this pretentious man wanted to make a fool of her, she’d give him a run for his money. 

“Hmph. Give me a good reason why I’d fear someone with a name such as that.”

       it was honestly a BIG surprise to find oh so high & mighty the end himself hanging around after everything was finally over-- after the long game of life & death, trust & betrayal. but, evident in the way he’d TELEPORTED to the other’s side the moment he was spotted + paired with his previous comment, it wasn’t an unwelcome one. he waits with a patient smile, lets his words sink in ( it’s not the first time people need a moment to PROCESS what he says / does-- try to find the logic behind his words, an underlying message or motive that’s not there ), for as weird as it may be, confrontation or fights of any sort were the LAST thing in his mind.

       he takes the other’s scoff as a good sign-- it was a good enough start that he hadn’t already been shoo’d off or killed. ❝ haha ! yeah, i get that a lot. it’s WEIRD, sure-- but i can’t help it ! if i like you, i like you. ❞ it was easy to wave the confusion aside with an amused & practiced chuckle, repeating a phrase he’s already said countless times, moving to sit on the ledge of the building in order to stare down at the streets below them. yeah, even if he wanted to, there was no POINT in a confrontation now; it was all already over. the dead were dead, & the living were out doing their own thing. might as well put it behind them, right ?

It was as if she had jinxed it, or something.

This elevator, which had probably been running smoothly since its inception (according to the inspection form, around 7 years), had suddenly, noiselessly come to a complete halt, mere seconds after she piped up about an awkward silence. Her very presence was a curse on this elevator, just like how her presence seemed to be a curse on everyone she’d ever meet...

That’s what Diana’s internal monologue was saying, anyway. Always accentuating the negative. Always.

“For heaven’s sake...” She put her hand on the elevator wall, just to make triple-sure that it wasn’t moving, then turned back to her new companion with an exasperated sigh. Wasn’t it ironic? The only member of her immediate family not to get trapped in an elevator, at least up until this very second.
