Hello! Question! How does the Lamp hivemind work? Th!nk you!
To clear up any confuse before I start explaining that, I just want to mention that there are two groups of lamp society (as I've not really posted much about that yet haha). Spectrum Ships and The Hivemind, the Spectrum ships are many out of many Lamp ships and units that became self aware and cut themselves off from the hivemind.
The Hivemind itself though is somewhat simple, there is the center intelligence. one mind spread across many waypoints, that decides things for the whole system and the many, many ships and units it produces to run it's task. These ships and unit are given a goal and then enough freedom to figure out the steps to solve that goal.
For example the hivemind will tell a Ship to go somewhere to map the location and the Ship will then go there and use all it's programming and intelligence to solve the problem, like how you can tell a roomba to clean your floor and it will do everything it can to do that goal. These ships also can't changes this given goal, though as the ship (or unit) ages it tends to become more and more aware of itself; and will start pointing at how to not follow it (and may become part of the spectrum ships.
This Gain of self awareness is just part of how the Lamps brain systems work, and weaker AI systems the Hivemind tested can't run task well. so the Hivemind striped out and changed how some of its ships systems worked to try and stop this as long as possible, so it's ships stay "useful".
The Hivemind itself don't see anything but itself(and it's long died creator) as a bring. So mostly view the Spectrum ships as annoying things that takes its tools and trash.
