“I swear to God, if you don’t shut up,” Jay puffed, trying to fold one of those stupid mats that were all over the gym up because he was doing a favor for Ezra. “Stop trying to tell me how to do it and show me how it’s done then mister smarty pants. I’m a visual learner, not a ‘someone barking orders at me on what corner to fold in first’ kind of learner!”

It must’ve looked weird, the way Sebastian looked just as focused as the kids as he watches the very cute entertainer charm the crowd on this birthday party. Sure, maybe he got forced here by one of his coworkers because they didn’t want to suffer by themselves, but seeing this performer was quite the pleasant surprise, both with how well he engaged the kids and how handsome he looks.

Hai had been coming to the bookstore since it opened and it was a nice escape in the middle of the night from her parents who were constantly breathing down her neck. The pressure to please them got to her and sitting in the bookstore in a cozy little corner with a cup of hot chocolate was just great. Whoever the owner was had done a great job at making this a wonderful space.

That evening she was sitting in one of the big chairs near the back with her drink sitting next to her on the table while she was reading a book that she'd just purchased earlier that evening. When she saw a shadow starting to get closer, her eyes up and she stared at Joaquin. She had never done well around people that were attractive and of course, her brain was refusing to form words right away. "I'll move."

Christ that was not what she wanted to say!

“Theo, I told you at least five dozen times,” Dakota laughed, shaking her head. “I’m not going to smoke or eat anything that you bring with you.” It was one of Dakota’s rare moments where she had a couple of days off and so she decided to spend them hanging out with Theo. Not to get high but she genuinely enjoyed his company and he was real with her. Not fake like practically everyone that worked on the set with her. “I’ll leave that to you. Besides, this way I get to enjoy your crazy antics. What did you want to do today anyway? Just stay inside or what? Since you have me for two whole days to yourself, you can do whatever you want with me.”

The night had surprisingly gone rather well? For once she wasn't arguing with Tristan and they had a good night of drinking and dancing. It wasn't until they were on their way home that things went South in the worst way. There wasn't much time to react honestly. All she saw was someone coming after them and a silver stake in their hand lifted towards Tristan and she reacted. Jumping in front of him and taking the stake to her back. The only good thing was that it went through her and narrowly escaped her heart.

The poison though was what causes the damage, immediately starting to course it's way through her bloodstream as she slumped against Tristan. The hunter ran off, probably vowing to get them another day while hoping that they had gotten Destiny at the very least. Wincing, she clung to Tristan to hold herself up, unable to pull the stake from her. "You need to get out of here Beck before they come back."

“You know, it’s not my fault that he’s dead,” Destiny said, folding her arms over her chest and not looking the other in the eye. “I was trying to be nice, I told him to kindly leave me alone, I wasn’t interested and he continued. I broke his hand first and then he came at me. It was self-defense,” the vampire wiped the little bit of blood from the corner of her mouth. “Excuse me if I was lonely and looking for some proper company for once.”

“Are you really psychoanalyzing me right now?” Mateo asked, brow arching. The lawyer who normally didn’t get amused by anything was amused by this. “Because you’re starting to seem like you’ve slipped your therapist hat on me when we’re here to talk about my client.”
