Betsy/Rachel things I think are interesting
Betsy’s Spiral stuff parallels Rachel’s Hound stuff. A lack of bodily autonomy that leaves them both determined to never be helpless again.
Fucked up family inheritances. Betsy’s father who lied about who he was her whole life versus Rachel who has the wrong versions of her parents. AND the wrongness of Captain Britain (which should be portrayed as a complicated and fucked up legacy!!!) versus dark Phoenix.
Neither of them takes orders well. I think this means that they would also have tension if they were on a team and one of them was supposed to be the leader.
In conclusion, I think they could be good, I just think that in order to be good, they would have to be written in-character by someone who actually cares about them. 💜🧡💜🧡💜🧡

I liked the fight they had this issue, it felt in-character for them. Rachel thinks Betsy's bossy, Betsy thinks Rachel's reckless. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out over the next few issues.
Betsy and Rachel using each other as a way to feel normal and healthy and whole, Betsy ignoring the blood that soaks her hands and Rachel ignoring the screaming in her mind, and both of them ignoring who they really are while pretending that they’re fine :) everything’s fine :)
not to endlessly complain about current comics but betsyrachel is so much more interesting if you let betsy be dark and terrifying and deadly and you let rachel be traumatized and angry and also terrifying. one of my favorite betsyrachel interactions is the one where rachel tells someone that betsy is “the gun pointed straight at [his] head.” rachel’s less affected by her trauma than she used to be but she’s still a little messed up, overly emotional, and ruthless, and of course we’ve talked before about what’s up with betsy’s writing.
as much as i like the cute betsyrachel stuff and as much as queerbaiting is in the spirit of excalibur and certainly welcome, i wish howard would let her characters be a little more fucked up. my favorite betsyrachel interaction that she’s written so far is when rachel was explaining why she wouldn’t read fake!betsy’s mind, as that moment did call forth the idea of both of them as characters who really prize being in control of themselves (which is not unrelated to the fact that they’re both telepaths).
