I have a harder time picturing a beta!steve because he started out as a tiny (omega-y) firecracker (alpha-y) and I usually assign betas a moderating/practical personality. The type that observe all the heat/rut behaviors and recognize their purpose, but basically roll their eyes and just get shit done. They are the reason society does not crumble while x% of the population loses their head for weeks and weeks out of the year. (1/2)
Not to say that they must consequently always be ace or infertile or without passion, but they just don't run around creating the same levels of drama. Steve is the definition of running around creating drama. To me, Sam Wilson is more the perfect beta. (2/2)
While I do like him as both alpha and omega, I can actually see Steve as a beta very easily--a tiny male omega with a pretty face like his wouldāve been more socially accepted than he was in canon, mouthy and unhealthy or not, and the concept of the āfirecrackerā alpha personality seems more based on their pheromones running hot, while Steve is usually picking fights because of his super-intense sense of justice and moral code.Ā
He does feel very passionately about a lot of things, but his self-control is also really, REALLY strong and he does in fact just get shit done, which does imply the possibility of the influence of a traditional ābetaā personality to me too. If he sees a thing that Must Happen, he makes it happen no matter what it takes out of him. And really, all that aside, gender only dictates so much of a baseline personality anyway.Ā
(also, lbr: an omega or an alpha would have a WAY HARDER TIME having as little experience with sex and relationships as Steve does at his age, and he DOES seem to approach those things as an outsider pretty regularly. thatās one thing for a beta, but someone who regularly goes through rut/heat? MUCH LESS LIKELY.)
AND THE INTERNET WILL PRY LOVING AND CHILL ALPHA SAM OUT OF MY COLD DEAD HANDS, OKAY??Ā
