Every Toon went through an initial concept stage. Bendy started out realistic, Boris started out simplistic, and Alice...Well I’ll bet her concept art was quite something alright.

I wanted to draw the first ever Bendy design based on TIoL’s description of his creation process (with Abby having been the first one to try drawing him thus the less cartoonish look). Then, after I was finished with him, I remembered how Boris’s very first design was a naked anthropomorphic wolf that was originally named Papa, so I decided to draw him as well. That then got me thinking about what Alice’s creation process must have been like and gave it a shot of making up a “concept Alice” design for her. I thought she might have started out being a more motherly looking fully angelic character before they settled for a blend of angel and demon. I also wanted to have more white in her overall design but didn’t want to make her look like a white sheet of paper so I darkened her skin tone a bit.

Appearance: Papa is more thickset than the current Boris clones, and is covered from head to toe in black fur except for his face, which is white. He has four fingers on each hand and wears no clothing aside from a pair of what appear to be black boots, though he does have a small collection of hats and ties given to him by the ink demons he calls his family. He will occasionally wear these from time to time, with a noticeable preference for the more colorful ones even if they might look gaudy. He also prefers hats that can sit between his ears or, failing that, modifying said hats to allow his ears to poke through the brim. Like a typical wolf, he has sharp teeth.
