I was just thinking that since I'd just finished a major (for me) work, I thought I'd try to hone my beta skills a bit, and at the same time give back a bit to the fandom that's been so generous to me. I've got a few people I regularly beta for, but at the moment there's nothing on my plate.

So.

Here's a thing. Nothing seems to cause more sturm and drang as betawork - the how, the who, the what. And to help with that, as of right now, I'm offering up FIVE (5) single beta slots to the first five people who hit me up on my gmail (mazarin221b at gmail). The rules are:

No single work larger than 10k, and if it's a multi-chapter, I'll do your first chapter, then we'll discuss the possibility of future chapters.

Your work must be ready to beta now, or at least within the next 48 hours.

This will be on my own time, but if something comes up and I can't get to your work within 2 weeks, hit me up and ask what the hell is taking so long. Just warn me if you decide to post, so that I don't put a bunch of work into the thing and you've already posted.

You have the right to boot me and post at any time if you think I'm taking too long.

You are not obligated to take all, or any, of my suggestions. If you don't, though, please tell me why, so I learn through this experience as well.

Please give me feedback on how I'm doing, too.

My regular beta folks take precedence - if one of my regulars asks me to beta I'm doing theirs first.

Please, for very specific reasons, I don't do fics with graphic torture, incest, or child abuse. If you send me something like that unwarned, I'll post it for everyone to see, and tell them what you did. I'm dead serious about this. Don't be that person.

Beta can be either via gdocs or via redline/strikeout on a Word document, your choice.

This is a ONE TIME ONLY OFFER. I can't take everyone on permanently, but am willing to always entertain future requests, time permitting.
