āBandcamp's Best Albums of Summer 2018: "Two Niles to Sing A Melody" contain suffering and joy in equal measure; the lyrics may not be in
The rarest vinyl haul, so far this 2018: #BrianEno and #DavidByrne ā My Life In the Bush of Ghosts (1981). I consider this album as the creativity peak that both Eno and Byrne achieved towards the 80s. This album pioneers analogue sampling, something whose early relative was Beatle musical experiment Revolution 9. This album has āfound soundsā, mainly from evangelists (even an exorcism), Arabic singers (curious fact: it has Muslim men chanting the Quran) and dialogues taken from the radio. Certainly, I have no more words to describe what I feel, seeing this vinyl in my collection... . . . . . #Vinyl #VinylRecords #VinylsofInstagram #BestRecords #BestMusic #VinylAddict #VinylJunkie #VinylCollector #Vinylism #VinylFan #VinylEnthusiast #VinylCollection #NowSpinning #33rpm
#FavoriteEPs2017: Rubblebucket ā 'If U C My Enemies' ... Rubblebucket are true originals. Their funky, alt-pop approach is one of the most refreshing and interesting sonic aesthetics out there. Their 2017 EP, 'If U C My Enemies', is no exception. Right from the first seconds of āDonnaā, the grooves can not be denied. Accentuated by bursts of saxophone, āDonnaā is an infectious dance party in one song. Kalmia Traverās voice is amazing throughout, too, as itās inviting and even a bit dreamy at times. On the title track, Traver leads a song that just begs for a live sing-along. Meanwhile, āNot Cut Out For Thisā has a great ā80s pop vibe while closer, āForlornificationā, sounds like it could be right off of a Prince record. Unique, diverse, and cathartic, If U C My Enemies will leave everyone begging for more. ... #Bestof2017 #FavoriteEPs2017 #BestEPs #bestrecords #Rubblebucket #altpop #experimental #NYCmusic #music #indiemusic #newmusic #newmusicdiscovery #pressplay #takealisten
#FavoriteEPs2017: KNIGHTFALL ā 'Volume 1' ... KNIGHTFALL is the passion project of Strange Talk members Stephen Docker and Gerard SIdhu. At first, they gradually and anonymously released a few tracks here and there until they finally revealed themselves. Enigmatic or known, it doesnāt really matter because theyāre taking electronica to new directions with their debut EP, 'Volume 1'. āSpeed Machineā took everyone on a ride with a nu-disco vibe and a really cool video capturing the excitement of the track. āExodusā is totally trippy and can easily put the listener in a trance (this one would be perfect in any club setting), and āWatching Meā is catchy as hell with the superb vocals set against hypnotic beats. The surprise track, though, is āMetro Stationā, featuring the talent of Nana the Writer. Itās a totally electric anthem that will completely make you want to DANCE. And dance some more you will with closer, āCanāt Get Over Youā. Could they be Oz's answer to Daft Punk? We're betting on it. ... #Bestof2017 #FavoriteEPs2017 #BestEPs #bestrecords #KNIGHTFALL #electronic #nudisco #indietronica #music #indiemusic #newmusic #newmusicdiscovery #pressplay #takealisten

#FavoriteEPs2017: FRND ā 'In Your Dreams' ... For a little while, we werenāt sure who FRND was, as he released each new song anonymously. We now know FRND is LA-based songwriter and producer Andrew Goldstein, who has demonstrated an uncanny knack of writing about past relationships in a straightforward way that sounds like your best friend is telling you a story. But instead of telling you secrets in the privacy of the bedroom, he has you up and dancing. His debut EP, 'In Your Dreams', builds on his well-developed reputation. Goldstein tackles things like the end of relationships (āFriendā), still wishing for a relationship the way it was (āMoviesā), and the reality of a toxic relationship (āSticks and Stonesā). The last three tackle being stuck in friend zone (āSubstituteā), possibly letting āthe oneā get away (āSoapā), and truly wanting your ex to live a good life (āBe Happyā). If this sounds to you like a John Hughes film, you wouldnāt be off the mark, but be prepared to dance. ... #Bestof2017 #FavoriteEPs2017 #BestEPs #bestrecords #FRND #indiepop #electropop #dancepop #music #indiemusic #newmusic #newmusicdiscovery #pressplay #takealisten
#FavoriteEPs2017: Miya Folick ā 'Give It To Me' ... Miya Folick's latest EP, Give It To Me, reveals why weāve long been bullish on her potential. The five-song, 21-minute record is relentless in its emotional fury. It is intense yet breathtaking, gripping yet gorgeous. The slow-building anthem āTrouble Adjustingā roars through the speakers and reminds us that rock ān roll is not dead while Folickās lyrics tell us weāre not alone in dealing with unrealistic expectations. The LA-based artist further reveals her brilliance on the lush ā70s cinematic-rock of āAgingā and the beautiful, introspective ballad āLetās Pretendā. Similarly stunning is her cover of Joni Mitchellās āWoodstockā, and Folick does the unthinkable by turning this folk classic into a breathtaking indie-rock anthem. It is on āGive It To Meā, however, where Folickās immense talents shine. Powerful and tender, heartbreaking and gorgeous, this emotional heart attack is one of the best songs of the year, and it is reminiscent of the grand scope of Angel Olsenās and Sharon Van Ettenās most captivating songs. And soon ā very soon ā she will be recognized alongside these indie giants. ... #Bestof2017 #FavoriteEPs2017 #BestEPs #bestrecords #MiyaFolick #indierock #singersongwriter #music #indiemusic #newmusic #newmusicdiscovery #pressplay #takealisten
#FavoriteEPs2017: Holy Golden ā 'The Licking River' ... Driving, programmed drumbeats and guitar work that sounds straight out of some of the best post-rock records out of New York provides the background to one of the dreamiest voices youāll ever hear on Holy Goldenās EP 'The Licking River'. The duo of vocalist Leslie Schott and guitarist Andrew Valenti have created an aesthetic of their own, visually and sonically. Schottās voice makes an immediate impression on āWhere Were You Whenā. The intro licks to āGirls are Ghostsā are addictive. Throughout, The Licking River reaches ethereal levels, especially on tracks like āLifelineā and āThe Movieā. Itās all a perfect package that has pretty hyped about their third LP, Otherworld, which is due out in 2018. ... #Bestof2017 #FavoriteEPs2017 #BestEPs #bestrecords #HolyGolden #dreampop #postrock #music #indiemusic #newmusic #newmusicdiscovery #pressplay #takealisten
