Bestiary - Dungeon Environment
Welcome to the new bestiary project. Unfortunately, Wizards of the Coast and their dreadful patron Hasbro have thoroughly sullied the image of Dungeons and Dragons, at least in my eyes. Even though the Monster Manual project was based on the 1977 version, I don't particularly wish to give them any more free publicity. At the same time, I'd like to continue the bestiary format.
The conceit of this project is to create a catalog of creatures that I would use for a fantasy rpg, be it a video game or a tabletop system. I will deliberately not attach it to any one setting (something I wish DnD and Pathfinder would do) but still try to work in my own world-building flavor. The creatures within will be a combination of generic fantasy stock, mythological beings, and creatures of more or less original creation. The bestiary is divided into chapters of habitat. At the moment I don't have any plans to include dinosaurs, because the comparisons between my project and BangbooDoragon's bestiary will already be many and deserved (it's been a great inspiration to me in many ways). Perhaps this will change once I get further into it. But for now, let us delve into the first habitat, the dungeon.
