A quick semi-serious review before the memes (Cemetery Boys edition)
Spoilers! (Duh)
This book was an emotional rollercoaster and I loved every second of it. I genuinely have no idea how this book doesn’t have more hype? It is the personification of the “A better love story than Twilight” meme. All of the characters are so well written and complex. No one falls into the trap of making all the characters the same (AKA Bland or a Mary Sue). They all feel distinct with a personality of their own, to the point I feel like they could leap off the page and tell the story to me themselves. Complete with Julian trying to fluster Yadriel half the time with silly banter, of course.
The representation was amazing. I’m not Latinx, so I can’t speak in that department (although I think this story did a beautiful job of displaying issues I wasn’t aware of before! I really learned a lot!) But as for the queer rep? I’M QUEER, I’M HERE, AND I WAS BAWLING MY EYES OUT LIKE A NERD.
Aiden, man, they did an excellent job of expressing emotions. The way he created such depth in the characters had my heart aching for them. I could see from everyone’s perspective and the growth they had made me feel a bit emotional not gonna lie. This deserves so much more love.
Plot-wise it was a very entertaining read, the way Aiden intertwined the plot points was very impressive. And that plot twist? About Tio Catriz? Funny enough before he was one of my favorites... and reminded me of MY uncle... Welp we see how that turned out. I tend to guess the plot twists of books pretty easily, so THIS was a turn of events that caught me off guard.
To sum it up, this book was excellent in every sense. A wonderful debut novel, and it made my heart warm with feelings (that is a first...). It’s my favorite book now, and you better believe I will be re-reading it for the rest of my life.
You're dead, Potter... I'm going to make you pay..." Draco swore his revenge on Harry for Lucius's imprisonment, and Ha...
If you’re looking for a Drarry book full of angst then this book is for you.
(I thought since I’m a Drarry shipper I’d start recommending fanfictions)

Their multilingual, lyrical poems entrance with hypnotic rhythm and tell a story that spans decades and borders. La Mackerel captures the power of connections maintained in spite of the blunt, relentless pain of distance. Wooing the reader with a carefully orchestrated, gentle lapping of words, they then jolt us with earned, splashy staccatos of euphoria.” — 2021 Dayne Ogilvie Prize jury (Daniel Allen Cox, Eva Crocker, and Danny Ramadan) Kama La Mackerel is a #MauritianCanadian multi-disciplinary artist, educator, writer, community arts facilitator, and literary translator. EastEnders / Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe (SPOILER FOR THE BOOK)
"Kiss me."
"No," he said.
"Kiss me."
"No." And then he smiled. "You kiss me."
I placed my hand on the back of his neck. I pulled him toward me. And kissed him. I kissed him.
And I kissed him. And I kissed him. And I kissed him.
And he kept kissing me back.
This was what was wrong with me. All this time I had been trying to figure out the secrets of the universe, the secrets of my own body, of my own heart.
All of the answers had always been so close and yet I had always fought them without even knowing it.
From the minute I’d met Ben, I had fallen in love with him. I just didn’t let myself know it, think it, feel it.
I wasn’t afraid anymore.
How could I have ever been ashamed of loving Ben Mitchell?
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
I'm literally obsessed with Ben & Callum and with the book Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe.

I'm still hoping they'll make another medieval/fantasy book like tc&tf😗
