Please listen to BESPER
Since no one is here and this is MY blog I get to ramble about why I love the Japanese indie band BESPER without having to worry about the members of the band seeing my obsessive thoughts (yes this happened I'm ashamed). BESPER is an indie band that to my knowledge, started activities in 2022. I would describe their genre as modern city pop with such heart and soul listening to their music makes me cry because it's so good. Currently they have one live scheduled for March and then are going to pause activities to focus on making more music yay yippee! 「Twilight Dive」 is the very first song of theirs that I got introduced to. It is an amazing song that was released in 2022. The saxophone and punchy bass combined with the start of the smooth deep voice from ARARIKU to the more youthful but powerful lead vocals by SHINJIRO makes you feel like you're in heaven. I can't help but go "kyaaa" when listening to Twilight Dive. I'm going to be honest and say my Japanese level isn't great, N3 at best so I don't fully understand the lyrics but I can understand the music and the music makes it feel like you're in a movie. You can tell so much love went into this song and how much fun they had recording this.
「寒空」 aka "Samuzora" literally translating to "wintry sky" is by far one of the greatest pieces of music I have ever heard. All instruments blend so beautifully I have listened to this song on repeat for multiple hours. The lead vocalist, SHINJIRO, has the voice of an actual angel. Again, even if the lyrics are hard to understand as someone who is still learning Japanese, it's like his voice reaches your soul. Samuzora has a music video that was released in 2022, but I do vastly prefer the 2025 version. Everything feels more powerful and more balanced though the 2022 version has its own charm. Even though Samuzora has the kanji for "cold", the song makes you feel so warm.
All this is to say that Samuzora is one of my favorite songs ever and I truly want everyone to please please pleaaaase listen to BESPER please give them support. It is on my bucket list to see them live at least once in my life!! I will also get better at learning Japanese to fully understand the genius of their music. I love BESPER yeahhhhhh!!!!
