South Sudan is gone; it’s a sad time for Meles and Isayas
The gist of this article is to retrospect of how Woyanne and Shabia seized the power through the Khartoum government, and to express my deep gratitude to Southern Sudan people for finally gaining their much deserved freedom. First and foremost, I congratulate the people of the Southern Sudan on their freedom from Arab bondage. Having said that, it would be fair to make a comparison between Ethiopia and Sudan that in who will be the bigger loser with the division of the country. In fact, Ethiopia never/ will never lose anything by separating from Eritrea except Port of Assab, whose ownership was always questionable in every Ethiopian’s mind. Melese should think twice about this. The despot Melese has given away Assab to Eritrean illegally by using his power without the people’s consent. It is an inevitable that Ethiopia will go to war only to retake her port, so Melese has merely put Eritrean in a quagmire where they do not have adequate resources to sustain a war. The northern Arab Sudanese now will lose the most fertile and oil rich region of the country South Sudan. Despite that fact, 85% of the oil comes from the south. Conceivably soon or latter, the Khartoum government will go to the war with south Sudan for ownership of the oil. In the meantime, the southern Sudanese are going to enjoy their new wealth from exporting the oil while the Eritreans are forced to leave their country because of the economic resources. Let me jot down what I heard from the Eritreans. In the late 80’s, the SPLA took an offence and captured some villages from the government’s armies supporting by Mengistu Hailemariam. TheKhartoum government was bombing to retake the villages. Funny enough, the Shabia supporters were saying that the air strikes were executed by Eritreans pilots, and the Eritrean armies are similar withIsrael armies in every aspect. That was hard to believe. In other words, they were trying to say the Arab population was much larger than Israel’s and yet Israel had the upper hand in fighting the Arab. Their rhetoric implied that Eritrean armies are superior to Ethiopian armies. The point I am trying to make is that Shabia was collaborating against the southern Sudanese independence. I have been waiting for a long time to hear and to see the secession of the southern Sudanese from the North Arab Sudanese for the interest of Ethiopia. When I see the joy of the southern Sudanese people on the street, I feel like taking vengeance on the Khartoum government. I can not believe how happy I am! I believe that all Ethiopians should celebrate and share the happiness of the Southern Sudanese people’s achievement of their independence from the racist Northern Arab government. At the same time, it is good for Ethiopians to see Al-Beshir is in deep trouble with Westerners and is left on his own. Isayas and Melese will not do much for him. It is clear that the northern Arab Sudanese have deep hatred, and animosity toward Ethiopian Christians. The last 30 years, the Khartoum government had played a big role to dismember Ethiopian and to bleed the economy by supplying military logistics to Shabia and to Woyanne. In the early 90’s, when Shabia and Woyanne tried to control all of Ethiopia, they were accompanied by Sudanese military tanks and with advanced weapons. It was unfortunate that the Ethiopian armies did not fight back against Shabia and Woyanne, because Mengistu killed viciously the well trained generals where Ethiopia was never able to replace them. While Shabia was advancing to control Asmara, the Ethiopian armies already surrendered peacefully to the EPLF guerrillas. The exact number of soldiers who surrendered was not known, but as the information was disseminated from those who managed to escape the executions, Shabia selected only the higher ranking soldiers about four thousands, and many wounded soldiers were brutally murdered in Asmara. It was shocking and surprising to me that this criminal action was not exposed on all websites concerned with Ethiopia. This was an unforgivable and unforgettable horrendous crime. History will eventually expose this crime and we will then pay a tribute to the brave and courageous soldiers who sacrificed for their country. Lucky enough, God is always with Ethiopians; Isayas and Melese, after they consolidated their powers, it was not even long ago that they started to fight with Al-Beshir, and their bickering was transient. Beshir, himself discoursed to his armies that it’s our government who brought them to Addis and toAsmara. He also said that he will snatch their powers soon and will be given to some one who will be able to cooperate with his government. That was a strong message to Isayas and to Melese. Surely, their powers would be threatened if they were to become an enemy and organized an opposition against Al-Beshir, because Beshir would immediately create an opposition against Isayas and Melese to overthrow them. Meanwhile, Shabia and Woyanne started fighting over the so called border disputing, and Beshir got double victories over his enemies. Isayas himself could not have two enemies at the same time, and had to close the oppositions’ office in Asmara to please Beshir. Then after, Melese rued that followed Isayas and attacked Al-Beshir. Melese had to resume his relationship with Khartoum government in order to maintain his power. Woyanne, after collision withKhartoum for a short period, Melese gave a large portion of land as a gift to Sudan. Otherwise, his government would be in danger, because there are many angry opposition who are looking for an appropriate place where to operate an armed struggle. Melese knows peaceful struggle keeps him in power for long, but armed struggle is a nightmare for Melese. Meleses’ ostensible mission is to build democracy in Ethiopia, but his real goal is putting the country on a dangerous path by implementing ethnic federalism. I could enumerate many crimes which is done by Melese, but is already in the record, and every Ethiopian knows. It’s very sad that Ethiopia is under its own enemy.
