Kauhara - Meet The Kingdoms
The Berhazan Kingdom
Part 1 - Basic Information
Current Monarch: Azaphyrr Nawela
Flag & Location on Map
Their People
The Berhazan Kingdom is next on the list, alongside it comes their race, the Berhazen, large bulking dragons built to withstand extreme temperatures both cold and hot thanks to their internal heat and thick, rough scales which allow them to retain heat within their bodies and insulate excess heat from outside. They are known for being capable of breathing fire as well, the simple explanation for this being the presence of glands in the back of their mouths holding a volatile substance which reacts with the air and combusts.
The cold, forested, mountainous and uneven terrain of their homeland has shaped them to carry out heavy duty tasks with ease and keep on moving despite harsh conditions. They have an impressive physical strength which allows them to move heavy objects without much issue, making them far stronger than other races in Kauhara in terms of brute force.
Berhazen stand approximately 10'8"ft tall for the males and 10'2" for the females, making them by far the tallest race in Kauhara. The Berhazen aren't exactly varied in terms of colors, most may have dark scales like black, dark gray or brown with ashen, dull and dark tones of red, orange or yellow as accents, markings or for their underbellies. Any abnormal coloration on a Berhazen is result of mutations. The Berhazen have ram-shaped horns (c-shaped).
The Berhazen are obligate carnivores and feed solely on meats of any type as well as a few products of animal origin like eggs. They are unable to eat greens.
Weather, Climate and Biomes
Berhazan is a fairly cold kingdom with few days in the year where its slightly warm. Berhazan is prone to rainfall or snowfall, the frequency varying depending on the month, with colder months being subject to frequent light to heavy snowfall and sometimes blizzards. Mist is quite a common phenomenon in Berhazan.
Dense boreal forests cover the vast majority of Berhazan. Less forested regions exist further north of Berhazan, where the cold is stronger and plant life struggles to live, tundras, basically.
Their Society and Culture
The current Berhazan kingdom was forged through a past filled with war and clashes between clans in attempts to unify all clans into one entity, they are no strangers to the concept of war and are known to respect it and treat it like an art of sorts, some believing that there is no peace without first having to undergo the process of war. Paired with this, they greatly value the pursuit of honor, having ideals which they follow to achieve this.
Wisdom, valor, temperance and justice are all concepts valued by the Berhazen people since ancient times even before the unified kingdom came to be. All four go hand by hand and make the foundation of society in Berhazan currently and all are accounted for in their ideals.
There exists some contempt towards the Kholcetl, their neighbouring kingdom, from the Berhazen people and vice-versa due to historical matters between the two. They have had their fair share of wars throughout history, their most recent one prompted by the assasination of the current monarch's son in Kholcetl grounds. The Berhazen don't see the Kholcetl as worthy of respect, mostly because they repeatedly have violated the Berhazen's ideals for the pursuit of honor in past wars by pulling unrelated kingdoms into conflict, ransacking and destroying towns and subjecting non-combatants to bad treatments. Recent years however have shown some improvement ever since a new queen rose to the throne in Kholcetl, this won't be discussed here though, this is about Berhazan, not Kholcetl.
