Restraint. Respect. These are the words we should be thinking about when considering whether we would have a Sanders or a Clinton Presidency. We the optimists, us on the left, liberal, democrat, independent, green etc., many of us are eager for our future with these either of these two prospects. This optimism has been lacking in politics of-late. As many eyes have been on Hillary for so long, she was most obviously to be our likely candidate again, and we were not not excited about this. We were excited for her, for US, despite the pre-existing drama surrounding her. We knew when she ran there would be tremendous media covourage, investigations, political shenanigans, old _long_ neverending stories to be continued. It would not be at all pleasant to get through, this GOP vs Clinton gauntlet. Every detail of all non-scandals surrounding her and her life, which we've been barraged with for decades now, would come to be refreshed, renewed as if newsworthy again, scrutinised publicly. We knew all of this, yet we were still optimistic for the 'least bad' option of a future with this good person so many love to hate. However, whodathunkit, we in some ways are permitted to choose our fate in this regard, we have options. Lo and behold there was another good person, one who has served non-stop for many decades for the interests of the general public democracy.--stood-up against any corrupting party, on-behalf of his constituents, as if they were in his office with him. His name was Sanders. Not many of us knew him, as our gaze was (trying to) focus on where the media & establishment wanted us to look, whatever would garner the most dramatic content, ad revenue, political donation-sustainance. But he was there, for most wrong decisions our government made during this time, he was there, with two hands affray in the air, expressing through many a logical diatribe what terrible outcomes would most likely occur were they to make said bad decisions. He was there, fighting for & in-symbiose his constituents; the people Vs wrongdumb. But we at that time were few. Now we have a chance to enter the Oval Office with him. But only if we unite to carry him and his message inside.
While we were watching Hillary, our collective optimism carried a torch for her, guiding her through the trenches of scandal again & again (inc. the optimism of Wall $t., Monsantos, "health insurers"+big pharma., media etceterror etc.). The flame won't yet go out, despite all fervent GOP attempts to extinguish it. We knew what we had to suffer through with Hillary, our somewhat tainted scapegoat. And our optimistic flame now having been generously stoked by Sanders' positive campaign against her. All of his restraint, whether of respect for her, the democratic system & the people, has lit millions more flames in our country and the world. While Clinton and her team have said multiple times that Sanders' campaign has become nasty and attacking, using that as a justification to not debate, her side is merely attempting to cast a shadow of negativity over the light Sanders is bringing into politics. The reality is simply that shining a light on Hillary's political & professional life does expose the questionable choices she has made, which is baggage she'd have to continue carrying with her through the presidential election campaign, and into the White House. Much illumination on her will tend to appear negative, we know what unproductive drama will come along with her once-progressive ideals. Sanders doesn't have baggage. All he brings to Washington is US, our fire, logic & rightness. Oh, and a little birdie.
Due to recent events, I have no choice but to revive this blog.
