I think my favorite thing about Ben Linus is the fact that you could ship him with like any of the main characters he interacts with and there’s actually material to back it up like

i got a brain tumor from @spiltmiiilk ’s post about ben linus x the fic trope of truth serum/getting drunk and spilling their guts. now I have to write an angsty horny economist-era one-shot where ben and sayid get drunk together in a hotel room after crossing another person off their List. They’re passing a bottle between each other + it doesn’t take long for ben, who can’t handle his liquor, to start Talking - lying, specifically, to put sort of a twist on the trope, bc I feel like Ben’s lies are often more honest/indicative of what he’s really thinking about than some of the Technically Correct statements he makes. So he’s a little drunk + leaning into sayid a little too much cos he’s having actual Feelings for someone for the first time since Juliet + maybe because of that, before he really notices himself doing it, he starts lying his ass off, poking at the cracks that have formed in their tense relationship, testing the waters as he always does by trying to get a reaction from him.
