Wednesday, November 19 at 5pm Artist Talk in the DOC/UNDOC exhibition Nicole Lavelle and Bennett Williamson House of Everything and More
Nicole Lavelle and Bennett Williamson discuss their recent experience as visiting artists in the border city of El Paso, Texas. They were invited to curate the inaugural programming at Cuadro, a new downtown arts project space sponsored by The Rubin Center for the Visual Arts at University of Texas El Paso. There they produced House of Everything and More, a series of free performances, participatory events, and workshops in collaboration with local artists and community members. Bennett and Nicole will present a fun slideshow, perform readings from their Time Warp City Walk, and talk briefly about being a part of a downtown redevelopment project in the city where the swirling rhetoric of international relations meets the unremarkable daily business of crossing the border.
Bennett Williamson was born in Boston and lives in Santa Cruz, California. As an artist, DJ, and project manager, he produces work in galleries, on the radio, and online. Interests include vernacular media, signs, and technology's influence on popular culture. bennettwilliamson.com
