I been talking about the new comic alot because well it's ben10 and I love that we're finally getting new stuff for it.
And like make no mistake I do not expect this to fail despite how sparse ben10 content has been the ben10 fandom is hella dedicated so I do expect this comic to sell very well.
That being said it's very strange to me how a fandom that thrives so heavy on AUs and fan redesigns and the like are so against it when official media tries to switch things up.
Ig i shouldn't be surprised cuz of the lynch mob that formed when OV first dropped or how many people have never watched any series post classic.
And like don't get me wrong that doesn't mean you should accept everything thrown at you obviously but it's wild how so many people don't have an open mind to nee things cuz it doesn't fit the idea of what ben10 SHOULD be in their head. Especially since the franchise is always changing
Dudes are upset that the omnitrix looks different but ben prime goes through 4 different omnitrices from classic to omniverse,reboot Ben's omnitrix also had 4 different looks as well. So thats 8 different omnitrix designs over the course of the last 5 series not to mention the different ben10000s and other omnitrix wielders.
Dudes are upset that the aliens are redesigned and it's like the aliens are always redesigned each classic series alien has at least 3 different designs(not counting the reboot or movies) and most of the designs from the comic are literally the same cartoon designs just in a more modern or "realistic" style. Like with the exception of stinkfly and maybe overflow they all still read as those aliens so at least to me people's reactions to what we've seen of the new comic so far is very wild considering imo they aren't even going as wild as they could be. Like the fact that they brought back classic aliens is surprising even considering i expected a brand new 10 but not only did they do it 90% of the roster is classic aliens.
Like it's recently been revealed that Ben's folks will be divorced or at least on the verge of getting one in the new comic and you'd be surprised how many people are losing their mind over it as if Ben's parents ever fucking mattered in the classic series.
And i think all this boils down to Ben10 fans are terrified of change,and that's why new installments in the franchise suffer so much because ben10 fans just want the same thing fed to them over and over again with no differences or variations and that fucking sucks because supporting this comic is gonna do sooo much for the franchise.
Now like i said I don't expect this to fail and this doesn't mean that you can't be critical of it at all cuz at the end of the day nothing is above criticism but having a plethora of negative opinions on this comic( which might be the best ben10 thing we've gotten in years) before it even releases is depressing.
