Aight I love this movie too fuckin’ much sooooo I wanted to share some good bits and moments from the cast commentary of this GEM of a movie.

-Literally first thing uttered while the production company logo starts up:

“Horse.”

“Is that really how we are starting this?”

-All of them talking about how Todd is credited with no last name,

-”That is an actual dumpster.” “No dumpsters harmed in the making of this film.”

-”That is the ACTUAL Elm St house.” (This is said like four times in a row and I find it funny.)

-”Zero Pace Face.” It took a long time for Ben Pace to realize he shouldn’t be getting his face in the shots. 

-The first scene in the house with the turtles was filmed v quick apparently.

-Nathan Baesel shuffled a deck of cards with one hand in a take and they didn’t use it and he is upset they didn’t, he was proud of it, I want to see it.

-”Try to make Baesel cry during the commentary” “I will not abuse my journalistic powers.” (Bless you Angela.)

-Shot in and around Portland and everyone had a good time shooting around there. Everyone in Portland was married by like 23 apparently, they all, yes even Angela, flirted with the waitress heavily before realizing she was married, the boys say Angela got the furthest with her.

-Ben and Britain shared a room when shooting, it being brought up lead to this interaction: 

“Ben totally fucked me on this room-” 

“I did NOT fuck him! YOU kept asking for it-” 

“We agreed that every week we would switch on who got the shitty murphy bed in the living room and who got the bedroom, and after one week and it was my time, Ben informed be that I was shit out of luck. And that he would pay an extra 5 dollars a day to-”

“Bullshit!-” 

“Bullshit?!” 

*both still arguing when Angela says to Nathan* 

“I hate when mom and dad fight like this.” 

-Angela loved Nathan’s cardio scene. The sweat was fake.

-Nathan popping off about how the car scouting scene was shot in like a half hour when they were losing light and how great it came together with all the choreo in like three takes. (I love how passionate he is! So positive!)

-Everyone singing the Freddy nursery rhyme.

-Our camera boys Ben and Britain were on set the whole time behind the camera even when they weren’t on screen. Everyone liked this choice and felt like it helped shooting a lot.

-Talking about how great the shooting was and if you pay attention you can tell from the different shooting styles who is filming what scene, Doug or Todd, a very cool detail.

-Everyone stole clothes from set and a lot of them STILL have them.

-Everyone loving Scott Wilson showing up and talking about how cool he was.

-Angela talking about how Zach, their prop man is crouched at Scott Wilson’s knees to switch out the cutting boards for the carrot bit, everyone appreciates how hard it was to do it.

-”Nathan I think you ate more sausage that night then I have ever seen any man eat.”

-”I want to hate something.” “I’m a hater.” “I’m very pro-hate.”

-Them going in to film the library scene and there was a bingo game going on and they had to interrupt it to film and the bingo people were pissed.

-The library scene was the last day of shooting.

-The last week of shooting they had a party and everyone was burnt out and partying their asses off and Nathan heard someone say “Paradise Lost? Found it.” and he thought it was awesome and felt like he had to include it. That same party people were throwing sushi at Britain apparently? Hilarious. 

-Part of the same Paradise Lost bit, after a screening one person came up to one of the cast members and roasted him “All those other books are chemistry books, Paradise Lost wouldn’t be there!” they all find it funny that he was paying that much attention.

-Angela keeps on making references to all of them being in group therapy together.

-”Zelda’s hips go tO HER KNEES!”

-The Man Lunge TM. 

-Scott getting so excited about how excited Angela is getting! Cute!

-A whole conversation about what underwear Nathan Baesel wears.

-Nathan Baesel’s favorite shot of the whole movie is Angela’s ass.

-They would jacuzzi at the hotel constantly and would have to get out to turn on the heaters every ten minutes, Angela would get out to do it more often then not, the boys are fine with this (Obvi. So would I.)

-Angela came back from Thanksgiving engaged and Nathan says that she broke men’s hearts, cute, cute, cute.

-”She’s just fully holding that coffee pot.”

-Nathan and Angela auditioned with the scene where she comes out of the diner and he throws her against the car and chokes her a little. Since they did it before at the audition when the time came they just shot it, very interesting.

-Nathan Baesel interrupting everyone talking about the scene at the van to say- “I shoulda done a pore cleanser. My pores are huge.” (You look fine Nathan, chill.)

-Angela did not know how to drive stick, someone was crouched down to help her with the pedals.

-“Let’s see it through.”

-Angela going on and on about the water stain being some women and everyone else saying it is a guy with his junk out, Angela says she needs another year in therapy after this revelation.

-The striped shirt. Iconic.

-The fake weeds smelt terrible.

-”STUNT BOOBS!”

-Nathan Baesel talking about how everyone stayed up till 3:30 AM, even if they didn’t have to, just to see the stunt boobs. 

-”That is the extent to which men will put everything on hold, sacrifice their lives, their passion, their glory, for a set of knockers.” Poetry.

-”I loved that you all pretended you were still a apart of the commentary track just then, and NOT watching the boobs.” 

“That was the first time I was quiet!”

-Angela is upset she lost the gloves she wore in a lot of outdoor scenes. They are cute gloves.

-Everyone had nicknames, Nathan’s was “Bee’s Knees” the reason “You got to be on your knees to please the B’s.” (Yes please.)

-Nathan Baesel doing a 31 hand sign in a very cool shot as his shout out to his group at Juilliard.

-”PANTY SHOT!”

-”She gives good scream.”

-”Here’s the yonic imagery.”

-Our camera boys drove up together from L.A. to Portland, they had a good vibe and worked together well before they even started shooting.

-Nathan talking about how part of the inspo for that face he does when applying his makeup in the mirror is from the ending of Invasion Of The Body Snatchers.

-Nathan talking about how caring and tender Angela is in the scene where her and Leslie hold hands when he has his emotional “I’m so happy.” moment.

-Nathan talking about how around when they did this scene he really realized that Leslie’s character is really in love with Taylor, he had been creating this situation and everything and Leslie thinks that “You, Taylor, could be the one.” (Kill me omg) and Nathan talks about the delicate line it was to walk keeping that in mind without making it super obvi to the audience at that point. (You killed it Nathan.)

-Nathan was listening to the Parentheses album by Sigur Ros and shared the music with Angela before that scene to share where his head was at. (Love that.)

-Nathan talked about how he was dropped off a week before shooting and he spent a lot of time walking around the farm, familiarizing himself and listening to that album, he found himself in the middle of this huge field at sunset and it hit him how lucky he was. To be in this beautiful place, being paid to be there and paid to be doing amazing work he was excited to be doing and he felt that was the best he felt in his life, in a long time, he related very much to Leslie in this, felt like he brought an interesting take on Leslie because he felt similarly career wise. Very interesting parallel.

-”If you fall. The whole movie will be shut down.”

-”I did the monkey roll, I felt it was worth it.”

-Nathan talked about how the scene where he kicks out Taylor and Todd and Doug is his favorite. 

-There was a cut part where Doug is scared being introduced to Leslie and he flubs his name and it comes out like “De-ou-g” and later on it seems like Leslie still says it the same way and I think that is such a cute character detail because I can so see him doing that every time he addresses him.

-Everyone appreciates The Swipe that Nathan does v much with his sickle.

-”Bitch, step back, you ain’t gonna get in my way branch!”

-T minus 15 seconds to Pace Face.

-The actual countdown to Pace Face.

-”Stop it.”

-”oh mY GOD I DID IT! Pace face revealed!”

-Everyone praising Nathan Baesel. (Correct.)

-”BALLS!”

-”I think I improvised the balls moment.”

-Nathan Baesel and Ben Pace go to pee at the same time, naturally, Angela and Britain sing “I Think Were Alone Now” by Tiffany and I love it. This song is now forever tied to this movie.

-During the reverse cowgirl scene the bra got stuck on the boom mic, the scene did not stop and it was all good, they don’t know how it was all okay and still worked.

-”I believe my line was ‘HOLY FUCKIN’ SHIT’ “

“I believe mine was ‘ HOLY FUCKING FUCK FUCK’ “

 “And I think mine was like ‘Oh good Lord’ Taylor doesn’t curse, please.”

-Ben Pace says the striped shirt grew on him.

-”That isn’t a scarecrow, that’s a man who’s bent on KILLING ME!”

-’ “Our FUCKING tires are slashed on all our cars’ That should be the tagline for this movie.”

-”35% of all whores know that they are whores” “That is a very classic improv trick, making up a statistic.”

-Get The Man Lunge TM.

-”At some point I want you to register that you’re a virgin and that he is looking for a virgin and THIS is the scene that I decided to do it.”

 “How’d you do that?”

 “It was that part where I said “He is looking for a virgin, YOU are not, I punched up the YOU, like YOU are not but some of us are” 

“Ohhhh!” 

They are Very Impressed, as am I.

-Britain pulled 25 hammy’s during this shoot but was a trooper.

-Nathan got hypothermia that night they did the scene where they killed Britain. (Boy was barefoot I am not surprised.)

“I was wearing a wet suit under that because it was 7 degrees and-” 

“Well it’s not called a wet suit if you just pee your pants...”

 “Okay anyways....” 

“SO you were wearing a wet suit?” 

“Jesus. You totally derailed me.” 

“We’ll talk about it in group next week.”

-”PANTIES! PANTIES!” “Okay, yes panties-”

-Angela brings it every scene apparently, needed no help crying.

-Ben Pace got to smack Robert Englund with a shovel and he was happy about it because Freddy Krueger scared the crap out of him when he was a kid so he felt like it was payback.

-”PANTIES! PANTIES!” “How many times are they gonna use that panty shot?”

-”That’s so coy.”

-”That was real mud on me.”

-Nathan was working on this physicality the first night he was full up in the Leslie gear and Scott the director stopped him like three different times like “What are you doin’ bud?” Nathan describes it as being ‘young and effeminate’ and fuck I want to see what he had in mind.

-”Slicing at apple branches really does it for some chicks? I like that.”

-”She puts it down she picks it up. She puts it down she picks it up.” “She’s got a love hate relationship with that stick.”

-Nathan fucking going OFF about how hot and tight the jeans Angela wore were.

-”Do you think Leslie Vernon is the SCARIEST name they could have come up with it?”

-The final fight in the barn was long and complicated and right before Thanksgiving break, everyone was very tired, the scene was originally supposed to be different and Leslie’s mask was supposed to shatter but it didn’t, sounds like it was interesting. 

-Angela killed this last scene, the only note was to turn around so they camera could actually see her because she was just so in it, everyone loved it.

-They actually burned down the barn.

-Ben Pace talks about how in that last shot he has an arm around Robert Englund and an arm around Angela and for one of the takes he fucked up and nudged Angela in a very masculine way and kinda tickled Robert Englund and just went ‘Oop I fucked up.’ (Hilarious. Smacking Robert with the shovel because he scared him so bad as a kid and accidentally tickling him later fucking kills me.)

-”Oh we should read the credits in that ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway’ reading of your choosing!” 

“Alright (dead pans) E. Larry Day.” 

Silent for a beat and everyone cracks up

“Promising start on what promises to be riveting commentary.”

-”Bailey! Nathan is trapped in the well! Go get help!”

-”Do you know why his actual name on his papers is Bailey Rumsfeld?” 

“Why?” 

“Because he is the secretary of defense at whatever address Scott lives in.” 

“We LOVE that!” 

-Bailey Rumsfeld is the production mascot and certified BEST DOG, you can see him in some of the other features.

-Ben couldn’t afford to go home for Thanksgiving so he hung out with Bailey by himself.

-The commentary ends with all of them saying thanks and they love you and it is sweet.
