Be My Anchor - Chapter Two
Madison glances at the concrete as Mikayla kicks off her motorcycle, "Hey, everyone!" She grabs her bag, and Mikey pulls me close to him, tingles spread all over me and I feel like I'm on cloud nine. "Madison really, really likes your friend, seriously. He's been crushing for awhile now. I'd like to be the cool friend here, and help him out, you know her better than anyone else, right? Why don't you spend the day, filling his head full of Mikayla facts?" He whispers, his hand snaking around my waist, I smile, giggle a little, "Sure." Madison smiles at Mikayla and she returns it great fully, oh those two, DATE ALREADY! I feel like screaming, Mikey squeezes my shoulder. "Are you gonna do it?" He seems generally worried about Madison not getting Mikayla. I smile, "Of course. As long as you'll keep Mikayla company?" "It'd be my honor, babe." He pulls me in for a hug and  I accept, willingly. Loving the way he smells. God, he's perfect. He smiles, "I'll see you later, Kels." "I'll definitely see you later, Mr. Fusco." He  gives me a huge smile, and walks away, Mikayla giving me a thumbs up while following behind him. I roll my eyes, walking towards Madison.Â
Sitting in the library, Madison and I weren't doing much studying. Well, actually Madison was. But it was more like, 'Learning Mikayla 101,' I leaned back in my chair and sighed. "What do you wanna know, Mad?" He smiled, "Everything." "I dunno if I can tell you, everything, but I can tell you basics." "Then, let's start there." "Well, her favorite color is pink, she loves curling her hair, she's oddly obsessed with anchors, her favorite band is Panic! At The Disco, she's always wanted to see them in concert, but they really never go on tour anymore." Madison nods, and I continue with Mikayla facts, "She loves singing, she often doesn't do it in front of people, unless it's in drama and she's forced, too. She wants to learn guitar, but she doesn't have patience. Or much patience anyway. Uhm, I dunno. But, let me tell you, Madison, she's a great girl. I've known her a while now, and she's literally the sweetest person in this damn school. So, if you hurt her in anyway, I will take a flaming bat to your favorite advantage, then I will sear your eyeballs. Got it?" Madison swallows, nodding. I have successfully scared another jock. FUCK YES! James Johnson stands on a library table, smiling like a complete idiot. "VICTORY PARTY AT MY HOUSE!" He won some football game; he was obviously excited for this party. I glanced at Mikayla across the room, our eye contact being enough. I knew we were going. She was utterly forcing me, too. Fuck. She smiles, I sigh and shake my head in her direction. "You suck," I mouth, she frowns. "No! I'm fun!" I shake my head again, grabbing my books off of the desk, tossing them in my bag, I turn back towards Madison, "How about you go to that shindig tonight and talk to her? She'd probably appreciate it more than you learning about her from me." He nods, "I'll do that. See ya." "Bye." I walk towards the door, Mikayla meeting me, curls bouncing wildly. "So, what were you two kids talking about?"
I smile as I pull Kelsey along towards her car, "So he wanted to know about me?!" She answers, "Yes!" for the billionth time, but it's so fantastic to hear again. "AND HE LIKES ME!" I scream, doing a victory dance. "Yes! But you still need to inform me of Mikey." I'm confused, then my brain catches up to date. "Oh! Yeah, we didn't really talk much, but he said you have the most beautiful blue eyes he's ever seen." Kels giggles, and I swear it's the cutest thing. "UGH, just date already!" I yell, she punches my arm. "If we could you know we would. I'll meet you at your house." "Yep. Drive safe!" I run toward my bike, hoping to reach home quickly.Â
I rush into my room, throwing my bag on the floor. Screaming loudly. I fell on the floor, smiling like an idiot. Kels comes in seconds later, "When does the party start?" She says, plopping on my bed with Doritos in hand. "Uhm, I don't know. Should we text someone popular and ask?" "I dunno." "UGHHHH!" I pulled out my phone, a new text appearing. I don't know the number. I slide unlock and read the text.Â
"hey, party starts at 7, c u there? its madison btw."Â
I smile, and reply. Stuffing my phone back in my pocket, I smile. "Madison pretty much just answered it. It starts at seven." "What time is it?" "Ugh, five." We pad down stairs and grab a lot of delicious snacks. Then, we run back upstairs, giggling all the way. We put in 'The Nightmare Before Christmas,' and eat, and eat, and eat. The clock slowly turns to six and we decide to get ready. I hop in the shower, and wash my face. Hair comes next, and the rest, etc, etc. I get out, and blow dry my hair. Kels goes in the shower next, and I pick out and wear this. I straighten my hair, and shake out my bangs a few times, I put on black eyeliner and mascara. I lay back on my bed and stare at the anchors painted on my ceiling. Kelsey came out of the shower, and curled her beautiful blonde hair. She applies eyeliner on the top of her eyelids then smiles, "What?" I laugh, "Nothing. You're just really beautiful." Kelsey snorts, "You're funny." "Oh, shut up, and get dressed! We have thirty fucking minutes." "I WIll GET DRESSED. GOD." Kelsey does eventually get dressed and she wears this. And she looks fantastic. As per usual. We head downstairs, and of course my mom isn't home. I don't even know where she is anyway. Fucking fantastic. We get into the car, and we blast, 'Boyfriend,' by Justin Bieber. "I COULD BE A GENTLEMAN! ANYTHING YOU NEED." We scream out the windows, yell inside, we're acting crazy, like we do all the time when we're together. We get to the party, and I feel finally confident. A slow song is on, and kids are complaining. I roll my eyes, oh the joy of kids. As, we're walking in, I see Josh and his new girlfriend, and I've never felt my heart squeeze that much. Kelsey  squeezes my hand, and I smile, although I'm falling apart. "I'm fine," I whisper; but I'm the farthest thing from fine. I weave through people until I find a bathroom. I pull open the door, and lock it once inside, I go over to the sink. Staring at myself in the mirror, I feel upset. How could things be so bad? How could he move on so fast, and not give a damn? I feel tears prick my eyes, then I shake my head, hoping that makes the tears fade. It doesn't, but I pretend it does, taking a deep breath, I center myself and walk outside. I bump into someone, and it turns out to be Mikey. "Oh, hey." "Hi, Mike." "Is Kelsey around?" "Yeah, but let me talk to you before you run and be little lover boy." "I'm sure I can handle whatever you're gonna throw at me," He smirks, and I laugh, and pat his shoulder, “Oh, Mikey, Mikey, Mikey, dear sweet little Mikey, if you’re going to flirt with my best friend, and I mean, my best friend, you best watch yourself, because I might be hell, but she’s the fire.”
