@belohved, jade’s entire being had been taken over by the highest quality jewels and the most elaborate fabrics tailored to fit her perfectly. all the items were gifts from the capitol to use for a series of interviews celebrating her victory of the 60th hunger games. truthfully, the simple idea of this many interviews made her want to bolt. instead, she consistently found herself searching the room for the one person who had managed to keep her alive this far - niamh. from the moment jade's games concluded, jade found herself constantly seeking out the other. to put it simply, niamh brought a sense of familiarity and safety she so desperately needed.
once everyone boarded the train to take them back to district 1, jade immediately retreated to an empty car in the back for a moment alone. it was unusual but something she felt was necessary. the interview she had closed the night with focused on the concluding moments of her games where her brutality was put on display at a magnitude it hadn't been before. her mind kept replaying her answers as she was desperately trying to charm her way through. were her answers even good? acceptable? caesar seemed pleased enough, but jade felt like screaming.
now back in 1, jade is trailing a step behind niamh on their short walk back to the victor's village. when they reach the point of the pathway where they would diverge to go to her respective homes, jade ignores the slight right towards her porch and continues closely behind niamh. the action alone is a silent request, but it’s clear what she’s asking. “ i don’t want to go home. ” a statement not followed up with anything else, the lights reflecting off the glitter still plastered on her eyelids that her stylist insisted upon. “ i will sleep on your porch. but it’s cold so please don’t make me. ”
